Say what you want about Absher but he's experienced at guard and the way things started last year I'd air on the side of caution putting someone in at a different position. Unless it's completely obvious that he isn't good enough to win with the first month I'd start Absher but I'm not in the room or on the field everyday.

Remember Augustine is supposed to be back at some point as well

Quit speaking rationally.
We need something to freakout about since we don't have Carr v Minchey this camp

Completely agree but I’m still bullish on Jagusah returning ~ week 8. That’s 7 months removed from final surgery.

If we have Augustine and Jagusah ~week 8, the pieces and depth are there to go all the way with or without Billy.
This issue with Jagusah is not time recovering from surgery, it is regeneration of the nerve/nerve damage. That could be good by mid-season or it may never heal all the again. There is basically no way to know.

Absher can RG. He just isn’t that good (CFP level expectations). But I don’t think he’s like banished to the bench. He was in that highlight reel with the 1s as of the other day. The idea that he has no chance to start be it Craig or Otting is jumping the gun. Craig is a top IOL in the country. That’s why I think Craig > Absher. Otting is a very promising C prospect that played well overall last year, Otting > Absher.

Has any site reported on what injury Nichols has? Thought he would have best chance of interior 3 from the freshman class

I love how we get a clip or two and someone is in a different position and off we go. Coaches are going to try a few different scenarios to know what is going to work best, not only as starters, but for relief and any possible injuries. You don't want Rudolph or any coach deciding who to trot out there at a moments notice. I have complete faith in what Rudolph decides.

Per Matt on ISD, he expects the C/RG line up to be Craig and Otting in some capacity.

Wouldn't shock me if Craig sticks at C and Otting moves to guard and they simply wait until Augustine returns after about 8 or so weeks. Puts him on track to return around mid October.

Kind of crazy Jamie U compared Absher to McGlinchey:

Compared Craig to Patterson and Otting to Linderbaum FWIW. Jamie U is one of the original big Otting believers.

Absher’s size versus HS offense (was a option of some sort) may have just made him a really tough eval out of HS.

Abshur just isn't our most nimble guy. He's plenty strong, and he's obviously a highly qualified OLineman (or he woudn't be playing at all.)

Abshur needs (somehow) (an upperclassman miracle? -- such happen) to begin to "see" how the CHAOS is developing, "feel" where his feet need to be just that tiniest bit quicker.

No matter if he is the RG or someone else, we're fielding a superior FIVE MAN UNIT.

I'm not an expert on Otting, but I'd be quite surprised if it was him at Guard. I woudn't want to, but I'd put Craig there if I had to, and leave Otting at C.

Beautiful, layered, sideline throw from Carr, and probably an even better catch from Jack Larsen. Every clip of Carr throwing the ball just keeps getting better

- Its like they are trying to hide the RG lmao
- Mukam out there with ones
- Didnt expect to see Larsen with 1s at all
- Gilbert with the 1s again, seems like he'll be the starter there based on all the pods / clips we've seen.

Larsen has had hype from some reporters. But so has like every pass catcher so I didn’t really take it as much.

I think he has chemistry with Carr and certainly has good hands, but physical limitations probably win out.

Jersey scrimmage is this coming Friday before they start game prep. Should get at least some trickle of intel from that. Freeman also talks to the media Friday.

Larsen has a knack for the acrobatic catch, I recall some in the spring as well. He’s definitely one of the more athletic guys at the position. Problem for him is that the TE position is less receiving focused in our offense as it ever has been and I have yet to hear a positive thing about his blocking ability, perhaps due to his size.

Well, lucky me. I was fortunate to attend practice today. Great stuff-I'll write it up later as I am headed out to dinner.

That's how you start.
