Average recruit rank >>>> blue chip ratio. 2019 class may have had an awesome BCR, but only had 1 top 100 recruit.
Average recruit rank (per 247 composite) for the 2019 class was 351, but that is skewed by Jay Bramblett being in the class. Without him it was 297.

For comparison, the average recruit rank for the 2023 class was 272 and the average recruit rank for the 2022 class was 315. Taking out McFerson it was 236 for the 2022 class.

ND is effectively tied for 4th is avg recruit rank with A&M and Clemson this year, shockingly enough. 2022 and 2023 class are carrying that too.

Just keep stacking quality QBs and 91.0 - 92.0 avg classes and we’ll get over the hump IMO.
If the 2020 and 2021 classes mirrored the 2022 and 2023 classes we'd be undefeated right now.

Add a playing making WR to this list and it would certainly be on.

Why O’Leary?
You realize there is a recruiting coordinator, defensive coordinator & head coach recruiting them too?

You are turning into Driskell.
Giving credit to Bowden & Freeman when they help get a recruit, but blame only the position coach when they don’t.

Here is something that will blow your mind.
According to NFL scouts, ND Safties have been in correct position more than any team in the country.
Problem is, Brown can’t catch. But he is always in position. If he could catch, he would have 3 INTs, ND beats OSU & he is an AA candidate.
O’Leary is coaching them up great. Just wish they could catch. But the Safties still have more INTs than the CBs.
Where can I find this?

This is exactly what I see with our LBs too. It's why we can stop the run with 6. JD and Marist are almost always in the right spot/gap. They aren't play makers but they don't make a ton of mistakes, they do make a few missed tackles that get noticed in big moments.

The safety spot is spot on with Brown, he knows what he is supposed to do but can't finish the play with a tackle or Pick. Again, it's why we aren't giving up many huge plays, but also why we lost to OSU.

IMO I don't think we lost to OSU due to the defense. Giving up only 17 points will usually win you a ton of football games.

Agree, but our O could have won the game, and they didn’t.
Yep, ST could have helped at the end, and
Coaching… why it was an absolute team failure last couple minutes of the game

I appreciate the sarcasm but it’s really not… literally every aspect of our team failed last 3 minutes

True dat……plenty of blame to pass around, now let’s expect that adjustments have been made to avoid a repeat performance.

How many kids end up cancelling their USC and Pitt visits?

Probably none from the “I’m not interested in ND anymore” crowd due to a loss.

ND-USC is a marquee matchup and one of the legendary CFB rivalries.

USC going for the CFP, and ND can play spoiler.

I don't usually quote from another site but not much to paraphrase here and I want to give Freeman full credit. This is amazing if true and would be insane.

From ISD's Matt Freeman in his Ask Matt thread:

goldenarmy14: 10 uncommitted guys you'd guess end up in NDs 2025 class?

Matt: I believe Notre Dame leads for Derek Meadows, Linkon Cure, James Flanigan, Matty Augustine, Owen Strebig, Damien Shanklin, Cree Thomas, Ethan Long, Ivan Taylor and Dallas Golden.

From ISD's Matt Freeman in his Ask Matt thread:
You can make an argument that no matter how bad MF is at in game coaching, you can never let him go. Just surround him with elite coordinators. I can live with a 4th and 11, or 10 men on the field once a year if we can go pound for pound against anyone in the country.

"It's 80% Jimmy's and Joe's and 20% Xs and Os" said an all time great.

Surprisingly absent is Jadon Blair, who hs seemed like an ND lean for a bit and is highly regarded by Matt, ISD, and the ND staff. I almost wonder if it was omission by oversight

Both Zackery and Blair are high on ND. I’d say that ND could be Blair’s leader seeing how many times he’s seen ND (whether at home or on the road) already this season.

Zackery is vibing with ND. But, as mentioned, he grew up an Ohio State fan and they are pushing for him hard, too.

He was asked to name ten specifically that would be would be in the 2025 class. Those names might have just missed the cut. Both were mentioned in other positive responses in the thread.

The key is going to be to surround MF with a president and AD who will do what is necessary to win. Empty the pocket book. Hire somebody who realize this isn't 1940's ND and adapt to the 21st century. Then as BB said, bring in coordinator's actually qualified to call offense, Golden excluded from that comment obviously more geared toward the Offense.

That's three big ones! Taylor is right near the top of the board overall for me in '25.

He’s been to campus a few times now. Wouldn’t be all that shocked if he’s in the class by the end of 2023.
