Did Carr's camp threaten to transfer if not named starter?
I highly doubt Carr's "Camp" was threatening anything. Why would he transfer now and waste a year (after already redshirting) if he was just one play away from playing this fall anyway?

Anyone would predict he would've transferred this winter if Minchey was the guy and balled out. Same now (probably) goes for Minchey: He's one play away this year. He's not going anywhere. If Carr balls out, it would be smart for him to transfer. I hope he doesn't, but ti would make the most sense for him.

No reason to even ask this question, honestly. 1) there's no way to know. Nobody would have the answer, 2) it's a baseless insinuation and is honestly way off base, IMO.

Why would any beat writer post this? Especially if you want to keep access to the Gug. Seems dumb on both accounts and alienates themselves.
Sounds like they're already alienated
But again, I've yet to see a reporter go anywhere near scorched earth lol

Love how in the last 3 weeks it’s Tae Johnson made some great plays, we don’t see the INTs, defense is elite, blah blah blah but now after the fact because he’s butt hurt it’s CJ Carr has a “significant turnover problem”

Come with that smoke a week ago and stand by it if you believe that is the gravity of the situation.

tf does that even mean?

Coaches? Players? Student managers? Ball washers?
The only player that should care is Kenny. I’ve been around enough college athletes to tell you they don’t care as long as you help them win and don’t hurt their chances of getting into the NFL.

What are the odds the good ol boy Brice from Tennessee is sourced on the Minchey side more?
I believe he was the one that brought up Kenny as possible transfer candidate when Tennessee was looking for a qb.

Did Carr's camp threaten to transfer if not named starter? Is it just sour grapes by talking heads? Something doesn't add up.
I doubt the Carr camp would do that, doesnt sound like them
I mean it makes sense, assuming it was a close battle, like most of the beat is saying, you should give it to the younger QB. You have more time left with Carr and you give him more experience not to mention Carr has more long term upside. Its really not a complicated decision for Freeman

I refuse to allow myself to get worked up over transfer threats anymore. The best player will play, QB2 will leave in the December portal window (should it still exist). ND will hope Hebert has progressed enough to be the back up or they will look for a suitable mid-major guy in the portal as a back up for 2026.

Agree. But to insinuate that players were surprised by the QB pick gives way for them to divide the team and fans if there’s a rocky start.
You can be "surprised by something" and not get divided lol. Especially if the culture is good....
With that said, how about we ask, "why were the kids surprised? they're not in the coaches' meetings"

The answer is (almost surely)
Dumbass beat (and national) writers were texting kids (and kids parents)
"Hey, how are the QBs looking? I've heard Kenny has been looking a little more clean Has he been more clean? I know Freeman likes clean. Do you think Kenny could start maybe?"
**plus, you know kids have twitter and see the Kenny buzz

The same bad info us fans got is likely what the kids got. Were we not surprised by CJ? Are we pissed? No. We're ready for 8/31 just like the team is.

JB

He also later admits “we didn’t hear the Kenny was lighting it up”

These mfs based their entire reporting on a box score of INTs thrown
I really enjoy listening to JOHN BRICE but he sounds like rejected prom date right now. Listening to the II episode from today, basically just them saying don't blame us, just repeating what our sources said lol

From my understanding (ninja), Kenny was solid. No question exceeded expectations. That said, he was not lighting the world on fire. He may/ may not have a 100% grasp of the playbook. CJ does. Everything on the table for Miami with Carr. Offense would not have that luxury with Kenny at the helm right away. No I am not calling Kenny lazy or dumb. Just that CJ apparently is batshit when it comes to football and knows the playbook inside and out.

Coaches and players on both side of the ball. He knows for a fact multiple defensive starters told family members it was going to be Minchey lol

And that kind of mindset is exactly what they need

You have to assume QB2 was always going to transfer, whoever it was. That's just the way it is. Somebody will pay Kenny a couple million next year to start.
I think it was Brice who made the point that Angeli was making $250K as the backup last year, and got a nice pay bump to go to Cuse. I wonder if Kenny has a higher profile than Steve?

My wishcasting landing spots for Kenny to go to if he ends the season as QB2. I want him to go to school that's a step up from the BC's of the world and hoping he gets a Beau Pribula type media fanfare bump.

Miami? Beck leaves and maybe they don't want to turn the keys to Emory?
AZ St? Leavitt leaves? Exciting offense and could see Kenny as a nice piece
Clemson? Vizzina doesn't work out?
Indiana? Mendoza leaves and the competition doesn't seem that tough
Kansas? Fallback school?
LSU? Nuss is gone and Kenny likely wins the job
Wiscy? Seems like a job he can win

I’d prefer ASU or Wisconsin out of those so I can root for him. I guess he could go to Kansas but I didn’t know he played basketball.
