This means that not a single heir apparent QB recruited by the Kelly and/or Rees regime won and kept that starting job
Rees recruited Minchey. I wasn't aware that there was a monarchical succession plan in place appointing Carr as QB for 2025. Stop listening to Sampson and concocting narratives from the spring game.

I'm frankly thrilled that we have a QB who has a bit of a chip on his shoulder.

Surprised and definitely screams Freeman thinks he can grind out two wins with Minchey playing a certain style more than he wants to risk two losses with Carr
This

and if ND is down at half, they bring in Carr and let him sling it. Not as much pressure

better than having Minch come in at halftime and try to sling it

Minchey was a pivot point QB after Moore fell through. He was not the "this guy is the future" recruit that Carr was. Doesn't say anything bad about him at all. Says something about Kelly and his protégé's ability to evaluate their future QB plans though

Totally reasonable given how awful he was being treated here.

Looks like merck straight up nuked his profile. Lmao

Or is now @Spartacus88 and gone incognito

Merck nuking his profile is incredible IE drama lmao.

I like the dude and am extremely grateful for his posts and insight, but he does have some strange reactions at times, lol.

Edit: I take this mostly back if he didn't really delete his profile.

*Hold your tongue Dale hold your tongue….*

Totally Agree - for all his deficiencies as a passer, Riley only turned the ball over 9 times (ints + fumbles) over 16 games last year, which allowed us to suffocate most teams with our defense and run game.

Have to wonder if we started the season differently (like a FCS team) if the choice would be different.

Idk if the beat would leak it knowing they meet with Freeman tomorrow or Sunday

This isnthe most logical take on the situation. Carr may still eventually win the job this year but the conservative plan is often the best in these big early season matchups.

They wouldn't take a recruit at that position if they didn't think he could compete for the starting job down the line, particularly when they took the commitment when he was as far along in his development as he was (November of his senior year). His recruitment was different than CJ's and didn't take on the same fanfare because his grandpa isn't a famous coach at a rival school. Outside of that, I don't see a big difference between the two in terms of background.

I think every single OC in the world prefers mobile to immobile I don’t really get the line of thinking here with Grubbs. It’s that mobile QBs generally correlate with not having the arm talent of less mobile QBs. It’s what is best combined. Grubbs has more arm talent than Marcel Reed for example, is it good enough is the question.

Has Carr been a gap better at throwing that is bigger than Minchey’s legs advantage? Evidently not
