It's more than that, you also had literal politicians going on TV and demanding that Miami get in. There is NO ONE lobbying for ND, and ESPN has a vested financial interest in getting as many SEC teams in as possible. They basically just threw shit against a wall to get the 5x SEC teams in and then gave a charity spot to Miami as a token to the ACC.

ND was AHEAD of Bama and then Bama:
--Struggled with 5-7
--Got blown out by 3 TDs

And ended up a SPOT HIGHER than ND.
