The ACC way over expanded and created a Byzantine scheduling system in hopes the confusion would help them get multiple teams in. However it completely blew up in their face and they’re going to end up with two mediocre teams fighting for an auto bid while Miami’s fighting for a spot through Twitter lobbyists. The conference has nobody to blame for themselves for the mess they currently find themselves in

I am making a push for all of Notre Dame fans to unsubscribe from Andy and Ari if you are subscribed. There needs to be some fallout for Ari being such an idiot. Andy is ok, but until he gets a better partner, I am out. I encourage you all to spread the word to the ND community.

Ole Miss is sneaky a fraud - a "quality loss" in a game at UGA that they blew and a solid win at OU (who also isnt as good as people think).

Otherwise they've had the following 1-score wins: Arkansas, LSU, UK, Washington St

OU and Ole Miss are certainly getting the benefit of the doubt as SEC teams. At least OU has had a tough schedule, Ole Miss's is worse than ours. Would love to get them round 1.
Yeah and Ole Miss and OU each have the weakest units of any teams in the top 10 (OM defense and OU offense). They're not complete teams and are definitely being carried by their conference affiliation.

Exactly the point i was making earlier this week - needs to be shouted from the rooftops. These top B12 schools havent played a damn team in the top 30 of the 247 team talent rankings. We have truly no idea what they would look like against an elite team. Arkansas would be the most talented team on these schools schedules.
I imagine it's a strategy that the Mid12 has adopted because they have to. It's just a super-G5 conference and wouldn't hold up against quality OOC schedules.

This is a much better track for them to take and isn’t bitchy and personal against ND. With 2 rankings left they’ve finally figured out there are teams in between us and them and they have to clear them first. The ACC social media people must be blood relatives to some of the ACC referees.

Miami isnt going to win their own conference and their conference is complete garbage. In what world is ND the problem?

The Big 12 is clearly the 3rd best conference.

The Fighting Soakers of Utah County should relax and chug some milk. They control their own destiny.

Thanks for this, it is enlightening. That said, for the 13 members to select their Top 6 initially they must have already compared the 30 potential teams and ranked them individually. Really not trying to be argumentative, just making the point that I really do not buy the “tiers” explanation — at least not buying that they do not rank them first.
That's not necessarily true either. The committee puts a lot of emphasis on metrics as well as SOS and SOR, so they get their 30 potential teams mostly from reviewing that data. When you listen to the committee chair explain some of the rankings, it's clear that metrics play a big part in evaluating the teams.

I’m not subscribed but I used to enjoy listening to Staples. Ari just never shuts up & always goes off topic w/ rants. What’s Staples’ take on this? He usually is pretty reasonable & he knows his CFB history unlike Ari.

I would say that Big 12 has the best team (Texas Tech) between their conference and the ACC, but ACC as a conference is still better. Both currently have 5 ranked teams, but I find the ACC group stronger than most of the Big 12. You can also consider recent history as far as the strength of the brands. ACC has multiple recent national championships between Clemson and FSU. Big 12 lost all their real firepower, the last time one of their teams won a natty was new member BYU...in 1984! I feel like they're closer to a G6.

The Big 12 is 6-1 vs the ACC this year.

Wow, didn't know that:
UCF over NC
TCU over SMU
WVU over Pitt
Baylor over SMU
BYU over Stanford

GT over Colorado

Some of those are pretty favorable matchups for the Big 12, but Pitt shouldn't have been losing to a bad WVU team and SMU shouldn't have lost to Baylor. I feel like the SMU losses make Miami's loss to them look that much worse.

Miami, BYU, Utah, etc should be directing their ire at the SEC. There is no reason that conference should be getting 5 teams in after huffing their own farts all season. If Bama loses the SEC championship game, they should be out so they can get their doors blown off by a mediocre Michigan team again.
Nailed it. Ole Miss, in particular, should be ranked closer to BYU. At least Bama and Oklahoma have played objectively difficult schedules and you can't fault them too much for getting lucky.

I think Ole Miss got a lot of credit for beating LSU before everyone fully realized how bad LSU was. But yeah, their only ranked win is Oklahoma, and five of their wins are within one score, including a three-point win at home against Washington State. Of course they're in with just one loss, but no one should be scared or all that impressed by them.

This whole playoff picture is ridiculous, borderline Redonkulous. All year Bamas and Michigans wins have been by the skin of the teeth. Not one dominant game, except when they play the D2 teams. The politics of the sport just makes me sick.

Ole Miss isn’t that good. Their ranking is worthy…they’ve won the games, but their defense isn’t too good. They went all in last year on NIL and the defense. Kiffin is obviously great with QBs and offense, but this was supposed to be a rebuilding year for them.

I hate Alabama as much as any, but they beat Wisconsin by 24, won at Georgia by 3, beat Vandy by 16, beat Mizzou by 3, Tennessee by 17, South Carolina by 7, and LSU by 11.

If Miami wins we should all become VT and Wake fans. That would put them in the championship game and one way or another the problem would solve itself

Am I wrong here? I think this basically boils down to we need Michigan and BYU to lose.
Pretty skeptical that Michigan jumps us regardless. We beat by multi scores a team that beat them by multi scores. And they just haven’t looked impressive at all all season. One rivalry game win doesn’t change that. But yes should they win there will be a drumbeat for them for sure.

BYU beating TTU in the Big 12 title game remains the biggest threat for us. Always has been.

I think Ole Miss and OK are frauds. OK has the 72nd ranked Offense. Defensively, they are a bit overrated IMO. They have played four teams with top 50 offenses. #4 TN scored 27, #14 Ole Miss scored 34, #25 Alabama scored 21 with 3 turnovers and no running game. The fourth, Missouri #39, was impressive as they held them to 6, even though they dropped a TD that would have been 13. Best performance nonetheless. Every other O they played has been bad.

Ole Miss? Why are they getting a free pass? Have you seen their schedule?
1. Georgia St.
2. Beat Kentucky by 7 giving up 23
3. Beat Arkansas by 6, giving up 35.
4. Beat Tulane
5. Beat LSU by 5
6. Beat Washington St. by 3
7. Lost to Georgia, giving up 43
8. Beat overrated OK, giving up 26
9. Beat South Carolina
10. Beat The Citadel
11. Beat FL by 10 with a late score.

Yuck! Why are they getting a free pass?

Would LOVE Mississippi or OK in a 7/10 game.
