After watching a little preseason football this weekend I don't hate the new kickoff rules. It's goofy, but if it's promoting safety while simultaneously promoting more returns/action in the game, it should work out. Who likes to watch touchback after touchback? When I was a teenager, guys like Dante Hall and Devin Hester were walking highlights every week. Must see TV when teams were kicking to them.

However, banning the surprise onsides kick puts a huge damper on the new rules for me. I just don't understand the logic there. If a coach wants to risk giving up crazy field position to have a chance to get his team the ball, that's his prerogative.

There is no feasible way to allow a "surprise" onside kick when the kicker is kicking from his own 35 and the rest of the players are 25-35 yards downfield.

I agree, Im just saying I wish there was a way to implement a safer kickoff without banning one of the most exciting plays in football.

After way too many beers this weekend, the discussion came up again pertaining to assembling the best football team of all time.

I actually feel like I was sober enough that I put together a good squad. I love football history, but I wasn't going to add guys who were before my time that I never saw play, so apologies in advance to the Irish Envy Boomer Squad who are going to go Jim Brown and Larry Csonka on me.

I think everyone here has a gold jacket but TB12, and....well, yeah.

QB Tom Brady
RB Walter Payton
RB Barry Sanders
WR Randy Moss
WR Calvin Johnson
WR Jerry Rice
TE Tony Gonzalez
OT Orlando Pace
OT Willie Roaf
OG Larry Allen
OG Will Shields
C Dermontti Dawson

DE Reggie White
DE Bruce Smith
DT Warren Sapp
DT Cortez Kennedy
LB Lawrence Taylor
LB Brian Urlacher
LB Derrick Thomas
CB Deion Sanders
CB Rod Woodson
S Ed Reed
S Ronnie Lott

KR Devin Hester

Leaving Ray Lewis off for Urlacher is gonna get you killed
I’m more upset that he put in two linebackers that were 3-4 pass rushers as the two outside linebackers on a 4-3 defense. If you’re playing both Thomas and Taylor you have to do a 4-3. This isn’t a sacks stat-padding contest we’re trying to have a functional defense here!;)

I'll do a full 53 man roster on the Saturday afternoon I do speed with cough syrup.

Change out Urlacher for Ray and Charles Woodson over Rod and I like this list.

"I respect your opinion. Its wrong, but I'm glad you have one." My wife wakes me up with the same message everyday.
I'd put Ray Lewis on there before another Skunk Bear, and Tom Brady was the first name on the list regardless of position.

Might sound irrational, but.....Michigan Football.

Our guy Estime had the ball ripped out of his arms and returned for a TD. Needs to work on the bicep eagle claw.
