Book and Kizer were very average. You can also make the point that Kizer’s development was horrible.
Would be a pretty dumb point. He regressed in 2016 but second round pick was above his recruiting grade and his development from spring game 2015 to regular season 2015 was terrific.

Very average?
2nd & 4th Round Picks in the NFL are very average?
I swear there are so many idiots on forums who never were even all state in HS, yet think NFL players aren’t good.
They are the same ones who watch pro fights & say, “I could take that guy…”

There has to be a reason why not one single 5 or 4 star QB will join this class. Literally the room is wide open. Excellent receivers coming in. It’s Notre Dame. How the fuck is nobody looking at this and saying, ya know, their defense is kinda solid. They have a hell of a class coming in and their QB room is fucking balls. I could start immediately for one of the more legit programs not just today but in history. WTF!!!!! Even if I fucking hated Notre Dame, I’d be dead serious about going there based on their desperate need at QB, brand, and overall talent in the ‘23 class. I’m not just talking the Dante Moore’s, but also the dozens of 4 star kids going to programs to ride pine.
Makes you wonder about the OC/QB Coach, huh?

A lot of NFL teams draft poorly - especially at the QB position.

If they make it to the NFL, they aren’t “very average.”
They are literally one of the best 100 QBs on the Earth. 8 billion+ people, top 100 isn’t very average.

It’s pretty revisionist to gauge Kizer as a poor QB. He got screwed by getting swooped up by CLE and then getting fed to the wolves.

Kizer was good. Crist was Weis’s guy and was never going to be good. Not even under Weis. Book waaaay over achieved. Golson was great but cheated.

ND thought they had 5* Dante Moore, then Dante Moore wanted 5* money.

At this point I don't care about the star system. There has to be a sleeper QB out there that ND could go after.

Maybe Tommy is doing some F'ing recruiting behind the scenes.

It you think Ian Book is one of the Top 100 QBs on Earth right now, then I’d disagree with you. He wouldn’t even be one of the Top 10 QBs in college football if he came back to Notre Dame. New Orleans immediately realized what they had with Ian and that’s why he’s in Philadelphia.

You’re underselling how badly NFL teams need QBs and how often they make bad draft decisions at the position.

M’Pemba got NIL’d. He really liked Freeman but then put ND on the back burner when he and people around him realized how much money he could make signing somewhere else.
This is another reason why ND is never going to get a Natty.

The answer is obvious he wants to keep the room open for the Carrs.

Yes, average. Alabama, Ohio State and Clemson is what we should aspire to me.

Good grief, Pitt just had a first rounder.

The on-field product should reflect the talent you are trying to bring in, or better to say, attracts the talent. Especially at ND where we do not have many things in our favour besides a great degree. Until ND starts putting together a serious offense, most QBs will not consider or commit to ND. And NIL as discussed to death already, doesn't help ND either.

If you can show a 5-star kid that the 3 star that currently starts for you is putting up 4000 yds a season with 35 TDs (just example stats), then they can literally see what success could look like for them too.

So maybe it's all oc/QB coaches then like these two sentences back to back live in some level of contradiction.

Bottom line QB evaluation and development is hard as hell.

Interesting stat: In the last 40 years, Pitt and ND both have had two quarterbacks drafted in the first round.
  • Pitt: Dan Marino (1983), Kenny Pickett (2022)
  • ND: Rick Mirer (1993), Brady Quinn (2007)

ND must go after a QB transfer someone with 2 years of eligibility left. Alumni need to open up their picked books and start giving these kids massive NIL deals if not then you’ll continue to see the same top 4-5 schools winning titles every year!!

Can we count Steve Beurlein going in the 1st round of the expansion draft?

How many times did he and Pitt beat ND, Kizer & Book?
Zero.
FCS teams have put out elite QBS.

Still waiting for more of your Dante Moore Zen approach posts? LOL
“patience grasshopper”
You knew exactly Jack poop.
You still know exactly Jack poop.
Tell us about your NFL QB knowledge oh wise one. I’m sure Book & Kizer are curious…

Of course, large picture, every QB that makes the NFL in whatever capacity are extremely talented. Most that are drafted were talented and dominated at the collegiate level. Only a select handful are able to make the NFL every year, and yes, sometimes the casual fan looses sight of this fact.

But, at the NFL level, there are many "average" QBs in the NFL. As in, they have average talent to succeed in that league. And many average QBs don't last or are career backups. On Earth, in general, they are amazing. Nothing wrong with being average at the NFL. Chase Daniels has been a career backup, and has pocketed a cool 42 million in 14 years - with only 261 career passing attempts. Amazing, overachieving average QB.

Seem determined to land another WR, and not waiting to see if it’s Lyons.
