Pretty sure we already knew two of these but looks like Rees followed Brock Glenn, Austin Novograd, and Kenny Michey in the last few months. Gives you an idea of where the next move will be for a ‘23 QB

Those all sound like very decent options after this Frida happens.

Ok for the 3rd time... Why have we not looked into Emory Williams at the U? With Rashada going there, that gives them 2 right?

I don't have an answer from the staffs perspective so I can only give my opinion. I think you are on to something as him being an obvious target as the lower of 2 QB's in the same class. However, I'm not sure that's the talent they're looking for. He's a big kid with a solid arm but not overly athletic with his upper or lower half. He's a poor mans Vizzina, IMO. If push came to shove in November and this kid was taking a visit because we had no traction elsewhere, then I'm not yelling at my computer screen but I'd like them to look elsewhere first.

IMO, that is exactly what we should be looking for in the 23' class with Carr in the fold. A safe, solid QB who can manage the office, but good enough to make things happen.

Its not clear to me how Brock Glenn, Novosad, and Minchey are definitely better options than Avery Johnson. Safer? Maybe. But you took a "safe" QB last class.

Also, would hope they kick the tires on JJ Kohl after he crushed it at the elite 11.

It’d go boom or bust kid if it’s needed for 2023. If it’s not Carr which still waiting on clarity there QB depth wise you’re probably looking at:

2022: Buchner
2023: Buchner
2024: Buchner or Carr as a FR or Angeli as a JR or _____
2025: Carr as a SOPH

If they just need a stop gap until Carr in the event Buchner is leave after 3 type good it’d think Angeli will still be here through his degree. If you recruit a high upside kid he either is a hit and you got a kid that can legitimately challenge Carr or he busts out and you have Angeli then Carr.

JJ Kohl for those unfamiliar:

“Has a big frame and will enter a college program physically ready to compete. Multi-year high school starter who led his team to the state title game as a junior, so he has played on big stages and in pressure situations. Strong arm, generates good velocity and power on his passes. Can also throw on the move without losing pace on the ball. Throws with good touch and gives his receivers chances to make plays on the ball. Multi-sport athlete who moves around well for a big guy. It is not likely that running will be the focal point of his game in college but he can get outside of the pocket and occasionally make some plays with his feet. Will have to show he can do that against Power Five defenders.

Player comparison: Joe Flacco

I know most aren’t a fan of IB, but they put out an update on ‘23 QB recruiting tonight that was somewhat interesting.
Seems ND was already in contact with some guys for a while, two of which OSU is also in contact with, and maybe ND & OSU can split between them.

Interesting name to watch reported above. Mickey could provide a scouting report

Jaquaize Pettaway is a name to keep an eye per Tom Loy a few mins ago.

Freeman trying to jump in and steal a 5 star WR while OU goes through a (WR Coach) scandal?
Ruthless recruiting by Marcus
its worth a shot but i'd love to see ND play Micah Bell at WR.

No.
For decades ND fans have complained we don’t have speed on defense.
Now we get speed on defense & you want him on offense?
Edwards will play the exact same WR position that Bell would.

Sounds like the ND offer may push his decision back.

But yeah, as much as I like this kid's film, if this is what I think this is, hard to be excited.

I mean it's fairly obvious that this is because Keeley is flipping to Alabama. Loy has been saying it's coming without saying it the last couple days. And look, it is what it is, on Freeman/Washington to find another quality edge prospect in this class. We'll see how it goes
