With absolutely zero fanfare, and a lack of introduction/thesis for the week because of how woefully unprepared I am, I present to you:
WEEK FOUR.
THURSDAY, SEPT. 22
- Enter Sandman on a Thursday night? Of course we will be watching.
- Coastal Carolina went 11-2 last year, and lost their two games by 5 points total. They should be headlining as a potential Group of 5 darling... but they barely register on the national beat right now. They won't play a P5 team (Virginia) until Nov. 19. Let's see if they get to that matchup undefeated, and see how the narrative ramps up.
- Illinois might be good, but this isn't the game to help determine that. It's just here because it's on TV on a Thursday night if you're bored during commercials.
FRIDAY, SEPT. 23
- Syracuse might be good. Virginia might be awful. It sure would be something to see Syracuse blow out another P5 team.
- The same week I hyped them up (along with @notredomer23), Air Force shit the bed against Wyoming. Tune in and see how many yards they run for on an erratic Nevada team as they take out their frustrations.
- GIVE ME A BOISE STATE NIGHT CAP ON SMURF TURF, JUST ONE TIME. Instead, we watch them on the road again. Look for @ACamp1900 in the crowd.
SATURDAY, SEPT. 24 - EARLY
- UNDEFEATED DUKE. UNDEFEATED KANSAS. WINNER GETS A CLEAN 4-0 RECORD AND A SPOT IN THE TOP-25. Leipold has Kansas on track, ditto Mike Elko with Duke. This is a noon headliner and the type of deep-cut matchup that makes college football great.
- Dabo and the boys visit Wake Forest. Wake has Sam Hartman back. Clemson might not survive a slow start on offense.
- Baylor visits our old friend Matt Campbell and his Iowa State squad. Could be a good defensive game for those into that sort of thing @Some Irish Bloke. Iowa State gets favorite status playing at home.
- Tuning in to see if the wheels just fall completely off for Auburn. A loss to Missouri would be DEFCON 1.
- scUM finally plays a team with a pulse, but they get Taulia Tagavaoiloa and the Terrapins at home. They could not have asked for an easier runway into the season.
SATURDAY, SEPT. 24 - AFTERNOON
- Go Irish. Beat Tarheels. Contain Drake Maye. Force him to stay in the pocket, but also don't let Josh Downs get going. Drew Pyne: Do your f☘️cking job.
- Go Bearcats. Seriously though, Indiana is 3-0 by the skin of their teeth. Cincinnati could use a P5 victory to build some confidence heading into AAC play. That line seems... like a lot of points to give Indiana.
- The SEC on CBS finally has a good headliner for the 3:30 spot. Tennessee begins a stretch that goes Florida/LSU/Bama. Good luck Vols!
- Texas had a Bama hangoover, resulting in a brief scare against UTSA last week. Texas Tech didn't have the firepower to hang with NC State. The Longhorns might build some momentum in this one.
- James Madison throttled CUSA's Middle Tennessee in their first game as a member of the FBS, and are now 2-0 after an early bye week. Lets see just how for real the Dukes might be, as they take on the surging App State Mountaineers.
- Oregon dominated a good BYU squad last week. Washington State is 3-0. We're going to find out if the Cougars are legit or not.
SATURDAY, SEPT. 24 - LATE
- Top-10 Razorbacks??? Aggies looked underwhelming alongside Miami (FL) last week. Woo Pig Sooie. Take the Razorbacks and the points.
- Rutgers is 3-0. Iowa's offense might be historically bad. Scarlet Knights roll? Take Rutgers and the points.
- Pray 4 Clark Lea's boys. Vandy is *kind of* pointed in the right direction, with a dynamic QB already getting them OVER on their season win total... but Bama is Bama.
- The Buckeyes get their first real test since ND in week one, but Wiscy is actually kind of meh. Buckeyes, big.
- Pray 4 Philly J. His OL is going to get him killed once again, this time at the hands of an aggressive FSU pass rush.
- I wish I knew wtf the Pac12 network was or how to get it, because this game should (hopefully) be awesome.
SATURDAY, SEPT. 24 - NIGHT CAP
- Scout the Cougars, as they try to get back on track against a team they *should* be capable of handling with ease.
- Utah is good-but-not-great. ASU just fired Herm. Prime #Pac12AfterDark potential here. Let's get weird during the Night Cap time slot.
- This is a "Is Washington hungover?" vs "Is Stanford really that bad?" matchup.
