Rushing the field is way over done nowadays. Texas was 2-1 and ranked 22nd. That’s not worthy of rushing the field.

If you’re ranked your opponent needs to be top 5 and undefeated.

If you’re unranked top 10.

If you’re G5 then top 15.

It’s also likely the last time Texas will play in Lubbock. Shoot it could be the last time they ever play.

I just watched the game. Right from opening kickoff, I was shocked by how few people attended. I know it's a thing with Miami. But holy shit! That's amazing.

Over the past 200 games that Miami has played, they are 116-84, a winning percentage of .580.

That's effectively somewhere in the ballpark of 7-6 or 8-5 in a 13 game season.

That's about on par with ND's lowest point of the program's history between 1995 and 2011, where ND finished with about the same record in the span of 200 games.

That's where Miami is at currently, but the problem is that Miami doesn't really have the same tradition and history to fall back on. Miami's history is about about a decade between 1983 and 1992, then a small period of dominance between 2000 to 2002.

Unfortunately the media has dubbed them "the U" and treats them like football royalty. If you're under 50 you have no recollection of their first 50 years when they did nothing. They were really good when you started paying attention.

Of course if you're under 30 they've never been good unless you started following when you were under 10.

Plus, the cockiness & swagger that the U was uniquely known for in their halcyon days can be found just about everywhere today. They no longer have exclusivity to it much like ND doesn’t enjoy the exclusivity they enjoyed pre-conference TV deals. Adapt or die.

I was texting some friends and family over the weekend about Miami; Miami and ND both 2-2 but look how different each 2-2 record feels. About 10 days ago, Miami was a fringe top-10 team and we were 0-2. Two weeks later, we feel good about the trajectory of this team after beating a quality defensive opponent in Call (22nd) and a high flying offense in UNC on the road. The boys finally played some solid, complementary football this weekend, scoring before and after the half and forcing a TO on UNC's first play in the 2nd half.

College football is weird, man.
