ISD has two tiers, with the second one being about double the yearly price of the first tier and seems the only additional thing you get is access to the varsity forum. Is the varsity forum what you would pay to be on to get all the inside scoops?

Wait, so they say, "Go ahead and pay us for inside info...but pay us even more for inside-inside info?"

Isn't this the same business model as scientology? Pay us to be enlightened. But if you really want to be enlightened, keep paying us.

And no matter how much I have paid I never got one more juicy nugget then you can get here or twitter for free

This was my longtime belief too but being able to read other team sites makes 247 worth the $25 per year.

Don’t get all the Driskell hate. Man… If you don’t like him don’t listen or read. I’m guessing some don’t like his politics or whatever, but holy crap the constant shots are tired. It’s consistently the same people that generally hold the same views. Different strokes for different folks.

I don't listen or read. Still think he's a complete dick. I don't know his politics. If he fed 100 orphans or dumped a ton of coal ash into a baby pool he's just a dick.

It's a message board. Shots get fired. In this instance, I think it's totally deserved.

Same fan base that blamed Scott Booker for famine and war.

No clue, I was wondering if someone knew what you get for the second tier.

Whatever. His name is mentioned so often by the same rotating cast of characters. I’m not aware of his political leanings, but it has been mentioned in this board. I enjoy his content, although I do find myself disagreeing with him here and there. I feel kind of ashamed to admit that on this board for fear of persecution however as a wacko or some sort of capitol storming revolutionary. I just find it weird that every time he’s mentioned in any context, it seems the usual posters are there to belittle him and those people who may listen/read his stuff.

These are the reasons I’ve become less engaged. Too much name-calling and know-it-all types, particularly if your ideology doesn’t match with the more active posters. I stay away from the political boards, but equating Driskell fans with Jan 6th nonsense is ridiculous.

Vince was in my class all through high school and we were high school friends and I promise he is a very good guy.

Suffice to say that those that don’t like him either:
1. Had bad interactions with him personally
2. Know people that have had bad interactions with him personally
3. Had bad interactions with him online
4. Don’t like how he (allegedly) fabricates sources and plagiarizes info from other pros
5. Don’t like how he seemingly has an axe to grind with certain coaches for personal reasons.

Those are basically the five categories of issues people have. If you don’t fall into one of those categories, I don’t see a reason to dislike his content. I actually agree with a lot of his opinions on stuff, and say when I do. I just think people need to be cautious about taking some of his content at face value.

Hes good with Xs and Os stuff. He explains things well and I've learned a fair amount about schemes and whatnot by listening to him.

But its easy to see his "sources" are fiction and he is absolutely full of himself in a very off-putting way. Im sure Vince is a nice guy, but he does nothing but agreee and repeat whatever Driskell says. It's mind-numbing.

So... outside of the plagiarism, fake news, and insufferable attitude... Hes great?

Also, the idea that the only people that have a problem with him are a small group here is crazy. There are some epic threads on ISD by normal members about how much they loathe the guy and terrible interactions they had with him when he worked there. He is openly mocked on 247 for ripping off info and passing it off as his own. There are a lot of people that don't like him for a lot of reasons. I don't know anyone who says it's because of "politics" and I think it's weird that keeps getting brought up. Why the hell would anyone care about a beat writer's politics? There are guys on sites that I've known personally for years and haven't the faintest clue what their politics are because we never talk about that stuff. People need to get over the idea that everything in this day and age has to be about what tribe you belong to. It's exhausting.

I paid for the extra subscription on ISD. I know Matt Freeman lurks here every once in a while. I don't regret any of my membership. The varsity is an extra podcast per week and I don't listen to it frequently because I forget about it being there. Maybe there's something else I'm not aware of but that's all I know.

If only we could figure out his user name.

People complain about him, yet continue to check to see what he is saying. lol

Anyway, ND has thrown several lines in the lake to see what they can catch at WR. Several are players that had verbally committed to schools, but didn't sign due to coaching changes. Allen and Johnson along with the already mentioned Cooper.

That’s what I don’t understand. If someone loathes a person to the degree posted on this board, why do they continue to follow/listen? There’s plenty of alternative options for ND coverage that most programs can only dream of.

Personally, I'm willing to sift through a certain amount of shit for diamonds. Also, sometimes all other sources have already been consumed so I go to the 7th circle of hell to see if there are lessons to be learned.

I haven't listened to D in at least a month, every once in a while I get a wild hair and find a title that intrigues me enough to give him some airtime but I almost always turn it off before the end. My interests spread far past ND football so I usually move on to one of those.

I'm just more of a Pete Sampson kind of guy. The same reason I value quality vehicles with longevity, handmade items, compounded interest, microbrews and the American Dream.

Some people like Bud Light, fast food, fancy new TVs, terrorism, dirty bombs and Jerry Springer. I'm not saying one is better than the other, just that people are different.

In terms of Driskell:

Some good stuff in here. The notable ones to me, we’ve heard this now but they really love Bellamy if he can add good weight and retain everything. Really like Price. JR they love how he looks during and post SR season, way more put together as a LB and athletically. About what you’d expect about OL, TE, higher end commits.

I enjoy Prister/Sampson/O’Malley on II pod, Sampson/Fortuna on The Shamrock pod, Hansen/James on Pod of Gold & Frank/Jamie on ISD pod. That’s more than most major programs offer and plenty for me. Haven’t felt the need to branch out to Driskell since his days w/ Somogyi. Again, if I don’t care for someone/something, I move along. If you consider it the 7th dimension of Hell…why bother? To each their own.

Paraphrasing: "Tobias is a combination of AJ Green and Tee Higgins."

Edit: Am I insane? I feel like I read this article earlier and it named the sources (like his high school D coordinator or whatever) and had more detail, now it looks different.

Oh man, I thought the truth in jest thing would be felt. I was laying it on incredibly thick as a joke. I was trying to be so over-the-top with my comparisons that people woudl recognize I just like ragging on Driskell. Definitely a joke that has some truth buried in it.

Lost me when a guy inside the Gug says "JD reminds us of Darius Walker". Who are they talking to? A couple of janitors?

Any movement on the Unsigned '22 WR's? Haven't seen anything on visits / interest since signing day.
