Whenever Howell has come up to the big guns McShay, Rap, Jeremiah etc I feel like they’ve somewhat distanced from his name amongst the top. Kiper has him as his #2 though

Names I think deserve the bulk of the Top 10 buzz, some real boom or busts but I can see it are:

Slovis
JT Daniels
Jayden Daniels
Malik Willis
Carson Strong

Names I’m meh about as a NFL QB:

Ridder
Rattler
Howell
Shough
Jurkovec

The Atheltic has Phil Jurkovec going #15 overall. I don't know what they watched last year or how high this analyst was when he put together the mock.

I still think JT Daniels has some work to do before he gets 1st round hype. I get he had some good games on the tail end of 2020, but that was after he lost the battle for the starting job to the underwhelming Stetson Bennett.

17TD/5INT in his first year in a new system at BC isn't terrible. We'll see what he does this year.

We’ll likely never know what was going on injury wise still but Kirby making a questionable decision at QB lands you in the top 15 though doesn’t it lol? Worked well for Justin

I suppose he has prototypical size. Mobile qb. Guess maybe they are anticipating a big step forward in production?

Maybe. But if you were a betting man, would you place money on Phil being a 1st Rounder or UDFA? I think he was way closer to the latter last year.

Finally....Mel Kiper Jr...........HAS COME BACK WITH SOME DRAFT INFO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In a the espn.com Insider article, Kiperpappa has dropped his top 50 prospects.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2022/...ason-top-50-prospects-class-including-six-qbs

# 5 Kyle Hamilton - "nightmare matchup". Nuff said.
# 32 Kyren Williams - Surprising to me, but he lauded his slipperiness and productivity. Notes need to work on pass pro and ball security while lacking an elite second gear.
# 34 Jarrett Patterson - Not a mauler and a bit top heavy but could be an early starter in a zone heavy scheme.

He's back! Mel Kiper Jr has updated his top 25 with the first third of the season under our belts on an ESPN.com Insider article linked below.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2022/...ding-matt-corral-malik-willis-spencer-rattler

So what's shakin bacon?

# 2: Kyle Hamilton - Versatile. Studly. Embodiment of a modern NFL safety. No way he goes # 1 right? RIGHT?!?!?

Positional Rankings:

RB = Kyren at # 3

Center = Patterson at # 2

And that's it for Top 10 at positions.

Reminder that Mel is a self-admitted ND homer. IDK if I could really see Kyren as the #3 RB off the board. Think he lacks a little explosiveness for that.

RBs are so hard to project in the NFL draft. Often a surefire 2nd round guy drops to the 5th round a vice-versa. However Kyren is the perfect back in the modern NFL. Excellent pass blocker and a threat to catch the ball. Not to mention he has decent size, and as far as explosiveness he has Td runs of 51, and 65 in addition to catches of 55 and 75 in his career.

Options after him aren’t great. He should be one of the first RBs off but the drop off after Spiller is steep, I don’t love Breece Hall. After Kyren is names like Goodson, Charbonnet, Ibrahim. Kenneth Walker will probably continue to rise.

2023 class has Bijan, Evans, and Bigsby I’d take any of those over not Spiller

Thinking of Rattler and my mid season report card seems okay. Kinda surprised thinking back Corral didn’t get mentions from anyone I saw considering the pool of guys that did.

Last one I saw had Strong, Corral, Howell and Willis in R1 but later than a standard draft, which probably is valid thought but won’t happen.

It's been a few weeks so it's content update time! Mel has updated ye old big board on the ESPN.com via an Insider ONLY article. But below are a few highlights to tempt you to throw them some cashola.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2022/...ard-including-kenny-pickett-kayvon-thibodeaux

Still overall # 2 is our banged up All American Kyle Hamilton who is exactly what NFL teams want in their first round safeties per Mr. Kiper.

For positional rankings:

Running back - # 5 Kyren Williams (not explained but dropped from # 3????)

Centers - # 2 Jarrett Patterson (no change)

Outside Linebackers - # 5 Isaiah Foskey (this moment I've been dreading, but it's interesting to watch how and where he is evaluated over the coming months)

Safety - # 1 GOAT

It sucks but he is unreal. Will be interesting especially with him potentially being a Heisman finalist how much momentum he may have to supplant Thibodeaux

According to our boy McShay....it has already happened. He gave Hutchinson the first overall slot, up from # 5, in his the ESPN.com Insider article on his top 32.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2022/...ng-aidan-hutchinson-vs-kayvon-thibodeaux-no-1

Kyle slides to 5 only because of the rise of Hutchinson. Even missing so many games it did nothing to diminish his potential, biggest weakness pointed out by McShay is that he needs to work on his angles when tackling a bit. STUD.

Which is 100% correct. The only weakness in Hamilton's game is he does take some very very very poor angles sometimes which does lead to some gashing runs.

We are seeing a bit of action in NFL Draft news lately which should heat up quite a bit over the next few weeks with the Senior Bowl right around the corner. Draft daddy Mel has updated his top 25 in an ESPN.com Insider article.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2022/...n-mel-kiper-big-board-college-football-season

Big Board:

# 4 Kyle Hamilton - no change in his eval. Most mock drafts I have seen have him in the top 10.

# 5 Ikem Ekwonu - he has really exploded lately and I only include him to highlight that maybe even though we haven't heard much from Osita he could be a late developer when he gets an opportunity?

Running Back:

# 4 Kyren Williams

Getting so many possible draftees back is huge for next year on the field, and I'm already excited about creating the NFL Draft 2023 thread. Let's gooooooooo!!!!!!!!

It's Todd McShay's turn to update his mock and we finally have a surprising break on his ESPN.com Insider article.

#3. Kyle Hamilton - Texans: Fills a huge need and is a franchise type player.

That would be incredible.

When Hamilton's scouting report doesn't include anything about him being "selfish", a lot of people are going to be pretty disappointed.

Todd McShay drops a stunner in his updated the espn.com Insider mock draft article post combine pushing one unicornish safety all the way up to.....#2!?!?!?!?!

McShay No More

"No, the 4.59-second 40-yard dash doesn't bother me. Hamilton plays fast on tape, and you don't come across 6-foot-4, 220-pound safeties with his range, explosion (38-inch vertical jump) and ball skills (three interceptions and four passes defensed in seven 2021 games) very often. The Lions' pass defense struggled mightily in 2021, giving up 5.9 yards per play (29th) and 26.9 points per game (28th). Opposing quarterbacks teed off on them with the third-best opponent QBR (53.4). Hamilton closes like a heat-seeking missile, and his playmaking would be welcomed in Detroit."

I'd seriously build a defense around him. Think Ed Reed but taller.
