Steven Angeli - NJ - FAR - Never Visited

247 Composite: NR
247: 88
Rivals: 5.8
ESPN: NR
Offers (15): Ohio State, Rutgers, Penn State, Boston College, Michigan, Miami, Georgia Tech, Old Dominion, West Virginia, Nebraska, LSU, Michigan State, Northwestern, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame

Richard Schnyderite - Rutgers Insider - ND CB
Steve Wiltfong - National Insider - ND CB

Gavin Wimsatt - KY - 5h30m - Never Visited

247 Composite: .9570
247: 94
Rivals: 5.9
ESPN: 81
Offers (13): Western Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Louisville, West Virginia, Missouri, Cincinnati, TCU, Virginia Tech, Kansas, Nebraska, Maryland, Notre Dame

Outside of the offer lists (Angeli's offer list is amazing for a 2022) I'd choose Wimsatt, I really like him as a prospect and like I mentioned in an earlier post he's very athletic, good arm, and tall which is awesome for an ND QB recruit and rare! Angeli's getting CB's thrown right away though so maybe he'll jump on his opportunity. Not too sure. Hopefully Wimsatt gets a chance to virtually visit or something like that before Angeli commits. He's only a reasonable drive away so maybe he can come for a dead period visit like the last few guys have and check out the campus!

I think Wimsatt has a higher ceiling but Angeli is still a quality prospect. Given the QB class for 22, If ND gets either, I would be happy.

After watching the first video, Angeli's arm strength doesn't appear to be anywhere near Wimsatt's.

ISD has been loads better since Jamie joined. His Thursday series is one of my favorites, plus I love the post-commit articles "Film Don't Lie"

Jamie the sort of guy whos gonna end up at the Athletic some day in some capacity. He could take over the ND beat for them if Sampson ever moved onto a national or semi national gig like Matt Fortuna

He’s a large and mobile young man. A big ball of clay for Quinn and company.

So I was just updating my scholarship chart to adjust for the extra year of eligibility everyone is getting, and it looks like we are going to either make some tough decisions on fifth years or our 2022 class is going to be extremely small. Like so small that at this point we only have 4 more slots open. I understand that there is some natural roster churn, and probably even more so with much of the 2021 class not really getting to visit ND, but we might have to plan for this class to be smaller than normal.

I thought that seniors and grad students don't count toward the 85 man limit?

It seems the general understanding is that only applies for next season. Basically if this season was going to be their last season of eligibility then they don't count against the 85 because no one could have planned for this. So players get the extra year of eligibility, but the 85 man limit exception is only for 2021 because by 2022 coaches can plan for the extra players.

Now with the NCAA being in a pretty player friendly mood lately (or at least wanting to appear as such), maybe they realize the squeeze this will put on future recruiting classes and they will just let everyone have that extra year be excepted.

Thanks for clarifying. So if I understand correctly. Basically if this is your last year of eligibility, you can play again next year and I'm theory you'd basically be a walk on (but going to school for free) in terms of scholarship numbers?

Been seeing a lot of Grant Bingham stories from all the players but no predictions. Is something coming with him?

Will be interesting to see how he performs in his first year as a starter. Think I've read he's a bigger baseball prospect though but that was a while ago.
