where and who does he play over? I so wish he would play mike and take over for Betrand, but that doesn't seem likely. Does he take over for Kiser, can he cover that space?
situationally only i would say and likely off the edge

Michael Mayer, Notre Dame Freshmen Pack on the Pounds Per Recent Roster Update

Posted this in the General Team Info thread, but thought I'd post here. Heights and Weights

Freebie from 247. Didn't know where to put this, but some interesting stuff here for sure about weight gains before fall camp. My highlights:

Linebacker Jaylen Sneed (198 to 215)
Offensive lineman Billy Schrauth (274 to 302)
Defensive end Aiden Gobaira (220 to 241)
Tight end Michael Mayer (251 to 265)
Linebacker Junior Tuihalamaka (229 to 240)
Guard Josh Lugg (305 to 316)
Is Schrauth fully recovered from his injury?

Kiser probably has one of the most secure jobs on the team, they love him.
He's very consistent but he doesn't make a ton of plays. Like 20ish total solo tackles last year.

I get why they like him, but i would also think there's opportunities for someone to be a playmaker there.

I think this, but on the strong side. SAM backer in pass rush/TE jamming situations. I remember one of the podcasts raving about his jams on the Wisconsin TE. To the surprise of no one, it appears that Jordan Botehlo likes contact.

the flipside of his game is that hes a penalty magnet. needs to clean up his discipline

I don’t know if this is accurate, if it is we did pretty well penalty wise last year, but shows zero penalties.

Bothelo has the reputation of being a penalized player but I think most of that comes from the USF game when he was a freshman.

Buchner throwing motion still sucks... doesn't mean he can't be successful thrower (see philip rivers) but very low side fling. Just weird to change to that.

I can’t imagine that’s an easy thing to change. It’s like asking a Jim Furyk to change is golf swing after years of swinging like that
