Losing Patterson is WAY more impactful than losing Avery Davis. And that’s saying something.
Tbf we don't know the severity of the injury. FWIW O'Malley said it was a right foot injury and NOT a LisFranc.

Is this all speculation about Patterson or is there something substantial out there that has been reported?

There's a report out that he missed practice today with a right foot injury. Only thing we know about the severity is that it's NOT a LisFranc per Irish Illustrated.

I mean, that's good, but how is it they know it's specifically NOT a lisfranc but have no other intel on the type or severity of the injury?

Maybe they asked specifically if it was a LisFranc or not. Or they already know what it is and can't report it to respect the source/comply with ND's policy to not release injury info before they make it public. My guess is the latter fwiw.

if this dude can’t play or is limited due to injury we are trending into deep shit. I’m not hearing much on the injury side from the Ohio State camp besides a backup to a backup running back.

So we may lose by 17 instead of 14?

I guess that are down some CB’s too, only have 3 practicing so something like that. And their best CB is on limited reps

So having potentially more players be sick and unavailable to practice/play is a better strategy? That’s a bold move, cotton.

A) They are not sick
B) They would be perfect fine to practice and play

That’s the point. They wouldn’t have to sit out if they weren’t taking pointless tests. And they aren’t sick in the first place. They are fine.
Are we going to random test them for thousands of other viruses too?
After 15 years in infectious disease I can tell you that they are fine and no reason for testing without symptoms. Even the CDC is (finally) coming around to this.
Except that asymptomatic people spread to other people who can get infected and have symptoms. Science #themoreyouknow

Patterson can't miss any time. Can't.

We're long overdue for some good fortune on the injury front.

Patterson is a big blow if he is out but we are supposed to be good at OL. If Bama lost a OLmam it would just be so what. It’s just time for someone to step up.

This.

Patterson (if misses significant time) can still be a leader on this team. He isn't dead. Harry is still allowed to coach other players. Other players are still allowed to continue to get better.

All of these things can be true, while still agreeing that this sucks for Patterson.

Also hot take: I think from performance/depth option wise, I think Blake or Joe going down would hurt even worse (leadership aside) just given the relative drop offs to next man in. I trust that Andrew can do a great job with the other 4 guys.

Exactly, the positive is Correll has been the starting centre all spring & fall, Lugg is pretty experienced so hopefully he will be able to take some of the leadership of the line if Patterson is out.

We have two great tackles, we just need someone who has a pulse & capable of run/pass blocking, they have 2.5 weeks to get Kristofic, Spindler, schrauth or Chan ready to go.

HH seems the right man for the job.

I'd be more worried if Quinn was still here.

These are good points. Certainly easier to find an answer at guard like Kristofic/Spindler that might be a downgrade for now but not a huge deal in the long term.

Agreed. Would suck to not have Patterson for the Ohio State game, but if it means a guy like Spindler can finally break the starting lineup and start to develop sooner than later, this may reap long-term benefits for not only Spindler himself, but for the line as a whole.

So, back to football...
Today the media has no practice access, but gets a Freeman interview after.

With that said, I thought tomorrow's full media practice access (can only record the first 5 periods) was supposed to be a scrimmage. However, last night, on Blue and Gold's Wednesday night Podcast - Pollard/Hyde/Singer mentioned that the scrimmage is today then a more generic practice on Friday..

Anyone have info on what kind of practices they're having today/tomorrow? Would love for the media to be able to breakdown a full practice of scrimmage.

As you said, today is a full scrimmage with no media access.

Tomorrow, I’m sure the media will still see the 1’s vs the 1’s. It just won’t be a full blown scrimmage. It’ll just be in periods.

It’s a new HC now, but I’m sure it’ll be similar to last year. When I saw practice last year they would randomly scrimmage for a period or two. They’d be doing position specific drills, then you’d hear the horn and all of a sudden it’s offense vs defense at full speed. That was the day I saw Hamilton damn near decapitate Austin and there would’ve been a 200% chance he would’ve been ejected if it were a real game lol.
