I got a really good screen shot of his arm angle and it is not pretty. I just can't seem to get it posted. Such a bummer because those early films of him, his arm motion was awesome and had zip.

He was clearly over-coached to quicken up his release. It remains to be seen whether his delivery is forever ruined or if this is more of a temporary mechanical thing.

Coan might not be the most athletic or have the biggest arm, but having a tall QB who can put touch on the ball is something ND has not had since literally Brady Quinn. Clausen had touch, but was a medium height guy at 6'2"ish. It's going to be interesting seeing a TE heavy offense with a QB that can attack the middle of the field.

Yea, I think Coan plus the skill players puts a solid floor in this offense. The ceiling is a little TBD. I feel really good about what we have in Williams, Tyree, and Mayer. And I feel really good about getting high level production out of the group (group being the important part) of Austin, Lenzy, Johnson, Davis, Styles, Watts, Keys, Wilkins, etc. I think the OL will make or break whether this offense is a top unit capable of winning 11-12 games or if we're going for a 9-10 win season.

I thought Kelly made a good point in his first presser. There are always question marks this time of year but do they have guys to step up. I think they've done a really good job with the roster, on both sides of the ball, that make me think there will be guys stepping up over Spring and Fall camp to put this team in a position to be really competitive.

Wilkins is all over these highlights.

On a side note - anybody know how to increase posts per page? I went into the settings and tried to change it to 40 vice the forum default, and when I saved settings it kept going back to Forum default

Try setting it to forum default. I upped it to 50 posts per page. The original default was set at 15.

Yeah, not sure. I was just reading a post on Instagram, ISD said that TB has returned to his old throwing motion, and he is just using one of his "various release points". They said it was a strength. Not sure I buy that he went back to his old JR year release point, it looks a lot different then the film from HS. I mean if it works great, but he had such a great release with velocity, touch ect, changed his motion and couldn't hit the side of a barn unless he was on the move. You are right, totally over coached, lets hope that Tommy and Co. don't try to reinvent the wheel and mess him up further.

Nana is #18 and he flashed in those highlights a couple of times. Those would be 2 TFL's in a full-go full pad situation. Not too shabby.

This is a big year for Nana. A make or break year for him. He needs to be in the two deep rotation this fall. It sucks that last season was a total loss for him in his development.

Make or break as a redshirt sophomore? I'm the typical vociferous defender of not giving up on players until the 4th/5th year has passed but the only reason I'm inclined to agree is the level of our recruiting on that side of the ball is continuously improving. I mean, it was just a few classes ago we were signing classes of Tiassum and Dew-Treadway (nothing against them, glad they were able to get a degree and be Irish). But the defensive recruiting has really taken a step forward so these guys who've been in the program need to continue developing or they're never going to see the field.

I don't know if make or break is the right word, unless they want early playing time. All they need to do is continue growing/developing. I hope we keep some journeymen along with the rockstar youngsters for the stability it offers.

While I agree it's not make it or break it, It's an extremely important year for him. I think they just moved Ehrensberger to his side, so if he gets passed by a sophomore, his starter chances (for next year) take a huge hit. Since they moved MTA to that "heavy end" spot too, that side is just getting crowded.

ISD brought up that this is the year for Nana to make a move and I agree. He’s well put together and has decent height for the position but he’s got some vets in front of him and he’ll have some guys coming in behind him.

Anyone else giving out a sighhhhhh of meh hearing about the status of WR.... IDK, I was hoping for better. Hearing Davis is the "leader", talk about consistency (or lack there of) from Keys and Lenzy, and hearing JJ is doing better in the classroom, is just a huge meh to me.

I know I know I know... it's early. Just seems like a rinse/repeat situation at WR though.

Starting to think Drew Pyne might be pretty good.

Or Coan is less than we assumed. Or BK is trying to keep competition at a certain level and being overly kind so neither check out and hit the portal.

Notre Dame - Short QB U

Did anyone really not expect we'd have a QB starting that was 6ft or under?

This was my take away as well. Pretty concerning actually. All the supposed talent at WR and those comments make me shutter.

I get the concern but Austin isn't practicing, Lenzy is coming off an injury, Styles is an EE in his first spring ball and to top it all off we're 4 practices in and what BK says to the media may be a little vanilla/coach speak. I think when everyone is healthy and practicing we'll see a drastically improved and more talented WR group as a whole than we've seen the last couple years.

Also sucks that the media doesn't get any viewing and all we get to know is what BK wants to tell us.

I hope so. Regardless, it would be nice to hear them say XXX is really stepping up, or YYY has made some incredible grabs. I want to hear Johnson or Watts are breaking out. Or Wilkins is killing it. In the first vid we got, I think it was Wilkins and/or Watts that had some nice catches. I get it that Austin is out now, and Lenzy may be a bit gimpy still, but I'm just tired of hearing our top guy is a
"leader" lol.

If you listen to the II podcast yesterday, they've heard that Lenzy and Keyes both have looked great this camp so far

The problem with that is Keys has gotten rave reviews every offseason since arriving.

"Dangerous with the ball in his hands"
"Explosive"
"Just makes plays"

I hope he can stay healthy and put it all together... but even then, Avery Davis has the slot position on lock, so there are only so many reps to go around.

Correct, not the first time Lawrence has been here, but just stating incase the other poster didn't know.

The Lenzy bit is important because sounds like a full recovery, now to stay healthy.

ah i dunno both BGI and II will constantly remind listeners that Keys just hasn't been able to improve his strength since hes been in SB..
