Notre Dame's Ian Book has above-average athleticism and good accuracy, particularly in short and intermediate throws, but his downfield work and height (6-foot) don't project as well to the next level.

The NFL has not only expanded the Rooney rule for hiring minority coaches, but now will grant teams that lose a minority coach (non-head coach) or executive to a head coach or general manager job with another team will receive a third-round compensatory pick for two consecutive years.. If a team loses a minority coach and an executive to HC and GM roles, that club will receive a third-round compensatory pick for three consecutive years.

Good site for following compensatory picks for the upcoming draft.
Compensatory Draft Picks Cancellation Chart

Counting Comp picks, Dallas will have ten picks. Their comp picks will be a third, fourth, fifth and seventh.

New England will have twelve picks, including comp picks in the 3rd, 4th, and 2 sixes.

There are only three black head coaches - Mike Tomlin of the Steelers, Anthony Lynn with the Chargers and Brian Flores with the Dolphins. Among the 32 teams this season, there were two African-American offensive coordinators and 10 defensive coordinators.

The two Black offensive coordinators in the league, Kansas City’s Eric Bieniemy and Tampa Bay’s Byron Leftwich. Bieniemy helped engineer the potent offense behind Patrick Mahomes that led the Chiefs to last season’s Super Bowl title. Tampa Bay had the No. 1 passing offense in the league in 2019 and now have Tom Brady.

Comp picks for their or other black coaches hiring are rewards for an organization that develops minority coaches.

In addition to this Todd McShay releases his updated top 32 board. JOK is listed at #20 overall.

I think it’s safe to say at this point in time JOK should go off the board middle of the first round to late first round at worse.

Does this make sense logistically? If you want to hire Eric Belliamy to be the new HC in Denver or LAC, since both coaches are on the hot seat, do you really want to benefit your divisional rival? That coach would have to be here and shoulders better than any other coach you interview because if so things are even you prob don't help out the team you're chasing

True. But the bigger picture of facilitating hiring minority was evidently worth it. Eric Bieniemy will be hired for his experience and qualifications. KC would not have gotten comp picks if he was hired last year for any of the five openings. Under the expansion of the Rooney Rule, teams will be required to interview two external minority candidates for a head coaching position and one for a coordinator position. From KC's perspective, I doubt Bieniemy will bring his offensive mind to a division rival, especially with the Chargers having a minority head coach and Denver and Las Vegas having relatively new coaches anyway whose teams seem to be headed in the right direction.

Currently KC is expected with comp picks (2) to have nine picks - a 1st Rd, 2nd, 3rd, two 4ths (theirs and a comp), two 5ths (theirs and a comp), and two 7ths (theirs and one from Minn).

Andy Reid has built an organization that supports diversity in the coaching and personnel ranks. Ryan Poles, who is black, is looked at as a soon-to-be GM too. Their front office will be a stream for future GM gigs.

The Chargers have one coordinator and six assistant coaches who are AA. Down the road a few of those may be hired for head coaching gigs.

This is less about the Chiefs and more about the hypothetical. If Team A has a quality minority coach/exec then certainly 3 other teams in that division and maybe 1 or 2 in the conference would be disenfranchised to hire said person solely because if they do they help the team they're expressly chasing.

I get the rationale just don't think it's well thought out. The team hiring should receive comp picks if anything

In which case a division rival would hire a minority coach within their division to not only get the experience, scheme, and the third round comp picks....

In addition to the Chargers and Chiefs, the Steelers have a number of minority assistant coaches and one long-time coordinator. This is also about minority hiring in the front office, too.

Draft content is heating up and that means it's time for the Draft Daddy of them all to update his big board on an Insider ESPN.COM article.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2021/insider/story/_/id/30528486/2021-nfl-draft-rankings-top-25-prospects-best-position-mel-kiper-new-big-board

Got some nice movement here for the squad.

Overall Draft Pick of Note:

#9 = JOK, up 7 spots as he continues to demonstrate he is the perfect modern NFL linebacker. Hype train is real.

By position:

QB - Ian Book at #9, say what?

OT - Liam down a spot to #6

G - Banksy makes his first appearance at #5...uncomfortable

DE - Ade up to #5, and Daelin stays strong at #10

OLB - King stay the King

Pretty good showing with some excellent opportunities for some other guys to get some big time tape laid down in the coming weeks.

QBs and the draft

QBs and the draft

FAs - Dak Prescott (31% snaps) and Andy Dalton (54%) w. the Cowboys.
Trubisky, Tyrod Taylor, Cam Newton are possibilities.

QB needy teams
1. Jax - Lawrence
2. NYJ - Fields or Zach Wilson
4. Atlanta - the one the Jets don't take to sit for a year behind Ryan
7. Detroit - Stafford's replacement
9. Denver - Lock regressed
12. San Fran - 49ers would save $26 mill by cutting or trading Garopollo
15. New England - has 10 draft picks including one in each of the first three rounds
19. Washington - perhaps they stay with Haskins and A. Smith combo
20. Chicago - only five draft picks
21. Indy - seven draft picks. One in each round
28. New Orleans - who replaces Brees? Saints have the worst cap space in the NFL (-$112 mill)

Possibly on the market - Stafford, Watson, Wentz?

Dak (Cowboys will reach a deal)
Taylor has been mentioned as bridge QB for Detroit due to familiarity with the new HC and playbook

Ogundeji out there on D first drive. Looks like no Hayes and McCloud initially

Both a QB hurry and drew a hold as Mond scrambled

BK getting some love on player development from Daniel Jeremiah.

Book had a nice TD drive w/ Hainey getting props for pushing Carter into EZ.

Ade looks good today. Had a sack of Jamie Newman who looked really rusty.

Books 3rd drive was good. The rest pretty meh. ND OL was pretty decent. I like Hainsey playing C and G. That should help him in the draft. Without stunting being allowed, everything was pretty bland and hard to really grade. ND DL same.

I loved Quinn Meinerz and the stuff they showed about him in Canada. Funny dude, and love him dunking and working out in the woods. Dude made himself some money this week.
