Sorry for the late entry... really missed out on previewing a doozy of a matchup last night, in which I would have prepared everyone to watch Tulane make it a very interesting game by virtue of their spread/ball-control offense. I WOULD NOT have been able to predict that they would break out the 'Annexation of Puerto Rico' on their way to a last-second victory, though.
So, about the rest of the week's games, where I'll try to keep it to 3 games per time slot, though there might be a bonus game or two...
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20
Florida International @ Louisiana Tech - 8:00 PM - CBSSN
- Enjoy Louisiana Tech's offense for an hour before switching to the next game(s) at 9:00pm
#10 Utah @ USC - 9:00 PM - FS1
- A Friday-night Pac12 game featuring Utah (the Pac12's best hope at a playoff spot) and USC... things are gonna get very stupid
- Can USC's freshman QB bounce back against a defense that has one of the best DL's in the country?
#20 Boise State @ Air Force - 9:00 PM - ESPN2
- Use commercial breaks during Utah/USC to keep an eye on this one
- Boise State looks to keep climbing the rankings, challenging UCF as the yearly NY6 buster
- Air Force is 2-0 and just beat Colorado. Upset alert?
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21
#11 Michigan @ #13 Wisconsin - 12:00 PM - FOX
- In a day full of good games, this is first up
- Does Michigan get their shit together, or does Wisconsin expose them?
#9 Florida vs Tennessee - 12:00 PM - ESPN
- Gut-check time for Tennessee... after a bad start, they'll be looking to make a statement
- Florida coming off of an exciting game against UK, and honestly didn't look great. Upset alert?
Michigan State @ Northwestern - 12:00 PM - ABC
- If you like defense, tune in
- If you like to see coaches make head-scratching decisions, tune in
#8 Auburn @ #17 Texas A&M - 3:30 PM - CBS
- First game in the CBS double-header (more on that later, duh)
- Honestly, both teams kind of underwhelm me. Auburn's frosh QB is okay, but needs seasoning, and the jury is out on A&M
#15 UCF @ Pittsburgh - 3:30 PM - ABC/ESPN2
- Pat Narduzzi is going to lose his mind watching UCF's speedsters destroy his lame man-coverage scheme
- UCF adds another power-5 victory to its resume
Louisville @ Florida State - 3:30 PM - ESPN
- Go Cards
- This game will probably be more entertaining than the other "big" 3:30 games
#22 Washington @ BYU - 3:30 PM - ABC/ESPN2
- Bonus game for the 3:30pm time slot
- BYU might be pretty good? Or they've been surviving against overrated teams?
- Washington looks meh... do they bounce back, or does Peterson start to feel some pressure?
#16 Oregon @ Stanford - 7:00 PM - ESPN
- Another gut-check game... Stanford is either gonna nut up and compete, or they're going to get absolutely crushed and start a legit nosedive
- I'm betting they get crushed by Herbert and the Oregon passing game
#12 Texas vs Oklahoma State - 7:30 PM - ABC
- High-powered offenses clash in the Texas heat
- Oklahoma State has a legit QB running game to go with their air-it-out playbook... hammer the OVER
#7 NOTRE DAME @ #3 GEORGIA - 8:00 PM - CBS
- LET'S GOOOOOOO
- Time for Lea and Long to earn their money... and BK, too. Get these dudes ready to play!
- Stop the run. Get after Fromm. Give Book time. Win the game.
- Regardless the outcome, ND is going to continue to get better as the young defenders get reps and the offense gets healthy. Go Irish.
#19 Washington State vs UCLA - 10:30 PM - ESPN
- Honestly, this is the only good night-cap option IMO
- Still waiting on Chip Kelly to do literally anything. Just one thing. But Leach and his boys will roll.
