The OP says Lion is the GM while Rack Em says he would take the Jags. I think they go Offense - either RT or WR/TE

It's been almost six hours since the last pick. Want to move on? If so, Detroit is on the clock.

Otherwise, someone can make the pick. I'd choose a RT.

I'll go ahead and pick for Detroit.

Lions need defensive talent and the best available I'd an edge rusher and one with a ton of upside.

So the Lions select Montez sweat from Mississippi State

Dude blew up the combine and with his size and explosive speed. He has a chance to be a force for a very long time in the league.

Maybe we can get this going again. Buffalo is on the clock.

With the 9th pick of the 2019 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills select TJ Hockenson, Tight End from Iowa.

The Bills could have gone many different directions with this pick. They could've given Allen some protection up front, add a weapon for Allen, or bolster the defense. I went with the best TE in this draft and probably the closest thing to a guarantee in the 2019 draft. Buffalo added a lot of receivers via free agency; now, they've added a do it all tight end that will be productive in the NFL for a very long time.

With the tenth pick of the 2019 draft, the Denver Broncos select Devin White, LB, LSU.

John Elway was heard from a back room, yelling "I want a QB!!", but had been restrained by various staff. The Broncos need a QB of the future and in this mock Murray is there. That's very tempting, but their main need is an ILB with Brandon Marshall departing and poor play by their ILBs overall. White will anchor new HC Vic Fangio's defense against division foes - Chiefs, Chargers and the improving Raiders. White will be expected to lead the defense.

LB only has two prospects graded as first rounders - the Devins. The Broncos also need DT, IOL, TE and DB help as well as a future QB. All-Pro CB Chris Harris is a free agent at the end of the season, wants a contract or wants to be traded before the season starts. Kareem Jackson was signed as CB, but may be switched to Safety. So CB is a real consideration. WR Emanuel Sanders is a FA next year so WR is a possibility in later rounds. Fortunately, at all positions of need, the Broncos can find value in later rounds.

Taking an ILB in the first round sets up Days 2 to fill needs at CB and WR. Day 3 should bring picks for IOL, IDL, TE, and possibly a developmental QB or BPA.

Ideally, Denver would trade back a few spots and get another pick.

Cincinnati is on the clock.

The Jacksonville Jaguars pick is finally in!

With the retroactive 7th pick in the 2019 IE Mock Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select:

JONAH WILLIAMS, OL, ALABAMA

jonah-williams-alabama.jpg

The Jags were considering TJ Hockenson, but there was internal strife over picking a TE with Kyler Murray and several OL still on the board, which are both positions of greater priority.

However, Murray doesn't fit the Jags offense, and they also feel pretty good with Foles leading the show for now. They could go with a safety blanket and legit playmaker in Hockenson, or an ACTUAL safety blanket in a quality OL.

That's where Williams comes in. He's being talked about as a guard at the next level because of a lack of elite measurables, but several OL gurus around the league say he is NFL-ready for LT. The Jags have the luxury of plugging him in wherever they feel most comfortable.

It seems the IE GM's have been fooled by the smokescreens. After a puzzling and yet fortuitous slide...

With the 11th pick in the 2019 IE Mock Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select:

KYLER MURRAY, QB, OKLAHOMA

kyler-murray-e1555462479668.jpg

Unsure of why the Cardinals and Kliff Kingsbury would pass on the prototype QB to run Kingsbury's air raid, and why no other teams tried to trade up to grab him, the Bengals are thrilled to get Zac Taylor a new QB to build around.

Taylor can have Murray run a wide-open offense like the one his old boss in LA called for Jared Goff, and he's got weapons to work with during a transition/rookie season that will see growing pains. AJ Green, Tyler Boyd, Tyler Eifert and Joe Mixon are a tremendous supporting cast for a rookie QB, provided everyone stays healthy.

Murray's mobility is an added bonus, as he can move on designed rollouts and buy himself time as the Bengals retool the OL over the next year.

Andy Dalton can stay as an insurance plan, or the Bengals can put him on the trading block and take the best OL or LB that gets offered.

Hearing from Dane Brugler on local radio that the Cards are 70/30 on whether to take Murray, and he could possibly slide in the draft. It is not a forgone conclusion the Cards go QB with their first round pick. Looks like they are considering Bosa.

Also hearing from him and some other analysts that many teams don't like Murray as a first round QB either. Gruden apparently wants Murray but the front office wants Haskins more. Likely that is who the Raiders take if he is available.

Tonight's first round is going to be tons of fun and chaos as the top ten picks on the board settle out. I'll be having a beer on my couch watching with great interest.

I could see Murray sliding based on group-think among the old school NFL GM's (Arizona passes, then no one trades up to get him, so everyone starts passing), but I don't think it will happen.

I think Baker Mayfield's success last season will have finally broken down that "need to be super tall" barrier that has existed.

But I would love it if Either of Murray or Haskins fell to 11 for Cincinnati. If you're going to rebuild, start with a QB that has elite traits and go from there.

I love Murray's arm strength, speed, and athleticism. He needs to sit a year to develop which he hopefully has behind Dalton and with offensive line and wide receiver talent. Protection will be key or he could encounter limitations like Rosen and Watson experienced.

Also Russell Wilson, who is not a tall QB but very well respected and just earned a bunch of money.

I thought Baker could make it in the league and posted as such prior to last years draft. I don't see it nearly as much with Murray. I watch OU more than any team not named ND and yeah... I think he should have stuck with baseball.

With the 12th pick of the 2019 NFL Draft the Green Bay Packers select:

NOAH FANT, TIGHT END, The University of Iowa

Noah_Fant_USA_Today_Image.jpg

With the 1st of their 2 1st round picks the Pack add Fant as a weapon in the passing game which will have Aaron Rodgers licking his chops. Fant is an athletic move TE who can deployed in the slot, attached to the line or even out wide and is match up knightmare.

to keep this going quick i'll knock 13 and 14 out real quick with little analysis.

Miami with the 13th pick takes Christian Wilkins DT from Clemson. Huge production and has been a star from the get go and will greatly help a weak front in Miami

Atlanta with the 14th pick needs to get more athletic on the backend so i'll take Byron Murphy CB from Washington. Not super fast but dude had 7 picks last year and in a pass happy league he'll pay huge dividends for a defense that has some pieces up front but needs the back end to match.

The Pick is Drew Lock, QB Missouri

The Pick is Drew Lock, QB Missouri

Washington's QB room is an absolute mess. While Lock is probably not worthy of a top 15 pick in the draft, QB's get chosen early in every draft as teams are desperate to find top signal callers.

Washington also has needs at CB and LG, but those can be filled later on in the draft. Any decent QB prospects will get picked up early.

Lock needs to mature before he sees the field, so don't expect a big impact during the 2019 season. Washington hopes he develops into a good, young QB in year 2. Keenum can hold down the fort for this season while Lock develops his mental game.

With the 16th pick of the IE Mock Draft, the Carolina Panthers select Brian Burns, Edge, Florida State.

Carolina’s major need is Pass Rushing. Burns fits this role to a tee. He is a polished, refined rusher with speed and athleticism. Carolina lost Julius Peppers, Edge and Thomas Davis, LB in the offseason. Some have graded Burns as a top ten talent. Burns visited with SF and the NY Giants. Carolina has long shown interest in Burns with frequent visits. He put on ten pounds prior to the Combine without losing speed. In fact, his 40 time (4.53) was second only to Sweat’s and would have tied for first last year. One source has Burns rated as high as third overall.

HC Ron Rivera and DC Eric Washington, a former DL coach, will put Burns in the perfect scheme to maximize his strengths. He may be switched to OLB or play as a hybrid. Carolina plays a 4-3 now, but Burns would be perfect in a 3-4. When he improves against the run, he could be a long-time force in the NFL. Certainly the Panthers could draft a typical SDE in later rounds. Picking Burns here provides them with flexibility.

Panthers’ defensive line is the kindling. FSU defensive end Brian Burns is the flame.

with the 17th pick in the NFL Draft, the NYG select Clelin Ferrll EDGE Clemson

With a growing pressure to re-establish a menacing defensive line that the organization has long built its roster on and trading away Olivier Vernon, the Giants decide to address this roster need with the 17th pick. Ferrell demonstrated a nose for the QB in the college ranks and should slot into the current roster nicely. The GM strongly considered Jerry Tillery with this pick due to his strong character (a stress of Gettleman) as well as his production and marked improvement over his college career, but he didn't want to be a homer on an ND message board. The GM also considered drafting Rashon Gary, but his inconsistency as well as his failure to reach his ceiling in the college ranks gave the organization enough of a worry to pass on him all together.

With the 18th pick of the 2019 NFL draft, the Minnesota Vikings select Cody Ford offensive tackle Oklahoma.

Guard is the biggest need for Minnesota and Cody Ford is the type of player who can be moved inside. He was a decent run blocker in college but really excelled in pass protection. His footwork is outstanding and he has great hands. Other tackles may have been considered better overall picks, but the GM feels Cody is the most versatile and can play tackle or guard at the next level.

The Titans select Marquise Brown wr from Oklahoma.

Possibly the most explosive playmaker in the draft. Gives Mariota a weapon to pair with Derrick Henry

Pittsburgh on the clock.

(arrowryan has not logged in today.)

Most mocks have the Steelers picking Devin Bush.
nfl.com:
Biggest needs: ILB, WR, edge, CB, S

The front seven on defense and the wide receiver corps should be weighing most heavily on the minds of the Steelers' decision makers heading into the draft. Inside 'backer has been a need since Ryan Shazier suffered a spinal injury in 2017, and it's time to add competition off the edge, with Bud Dupree producing just 20 sacks in four seasons. JuJu Smith-Schuster may indeed be ready for WR1 duty, but the departure of Antonio Brown looms large over a weakened receiving corps that added Donte Moncrief. In the secondary, Joe Haden and Sean Davis are a year away from free agency. The offensive line, specifically right tackle, should be a consideration here, too.

The Seahawks painfully pick Rashan Gary, DE, in hopes that he matures. Pete Carroll brings out the best in overrated prospects. Maybe he can beat out Quinton Jefferson or Cassius Marsh.
