I echo what you post here^. I was really hopeful the OL had turned a corner after the FSU performance. To take a step back vs an inferior run D is worrisome. Makes me think ND was able to excel at running the ball last week b/c they had a running QB in w/ BW & they had to account for him as well. Also, they may have been protecting Book by limiting his runs as well...let’s hope that’s the case. Overall, the OL is not good enough to win a NC IMO.

The defense has also struggled stopping the run. Was that b/c SU spreads defenses out thus opening more running lanes? I don’t know but SU’s only success was on the ground.

The secondary played their best game of the season. Wow, they were swarming all over the place. Pass rush was looking good as well. Finke & Claypool really showed off their ball skills. Boykin had some drops but as mentioned, hasn’t been a trend & he bounced back late on a key drive.

They have but I think it's a byproduct of the defense you employ. We leave ourselves open to the occasional 15+ yd run because our DL gets upfield in a hurry and our DBs are playing tight(er) coverage.

That might've been the best defensive game I've seen ND play in 6 years. I imagine there were some memorable ones in 2012 but they did everything needed to put the offense in good position.

I really have a hard time seeing what Hainsey has been doing to get these calls. Is he flinching? Is he rocking? I don’t see anything.

He flinched on at least two of the three that I saw on replay. Probably a product of trying not to get beat by SU’s edge rushers who were impressive coming into the game.

2012 had a tremendous amount of statistical success on defense but it didn't attack like this defense does. Not that 2012 was bad (it was the best scoring defense in the country) but this is more fun to watch.

I'd like Long to maybe go up top to Claypool or Boykin instead of the no gain run up the middle inside the 15. I know it's Stanford type crap but those two are animals, maybe even Mack.

This is not true. I’ve got several 15s that I have less than a 1k in that’ll bang steel at 300 all day.
If you have a 1000 dollar ar15. That will shoot even close to what a rem 700 will shoot I'll buy one from you for 1500.00 my better one will only pattern 14 inches at 300 yards. That's strapped down. Zero human error. Bolt guns are just no comparison better

I feel like I've been pretty optimistic all season and have predicted ND blowouts whenever I can, but, I can't help but feel disappointed in this performance. When the Irish were up 23-0, it was still, technically, a game, but I can't help but feel that it should have been 42-0 and the starters should have been out. If Notre Dame wants to win a championship this year, there's still work to get done. Cannot overlook USC.

Lol. If that performance left you disappointed then you've must've been an Irish fan for one season so far, yes?

Uhhhhh dude, come on. Of course there's room for improvement, but to be disappointed?

This is a very good and balanced team. The problems Saturday are minor and easily fixed this week. I thought this would be the toughest remaining game but they proved me wrong. I don’t see how this team won’t be ready for USC.

BTW....if you going to start using BW in the offense, you need to run some of it in real time so you can see if it is going to work.
