Clashmore - Let me get this right, Torres is "your guy" but Rex sucks? You are either high or know nothing about basketball, IMHO.

The kid is a 5 minute energy infusion with 5 fouls to inflict on the other team, big athletic body to throw himself around the paint. Love the guy as a role player but it makes zero sense for the program to be giving him more burn than Burns right now. Really don't want to rag one one of our own in the middle of a rough season so I will stop there.

Rex did not have a good game but he is a good passer/ball handler, premier one-on-one defender and solid enough scorer to keep the other team honest. He is being asked to do too much offensively, not driving/finishing well in the paint and the offensive burden is draining from his defensive work. Then again - increase zone usage greatly diminishes his ROI vs. man. The kid won dunk contests in HS, would be nice to see that in some finishes - plus he has passed up a ton of open lanes. Feel like he could benefit from playing 30 minutes balls out instead of pacing himself for 40 if he is going to need to push that hard on both ends of the floor. Rex is essential to our success - he cannot be a top 3 offensive "go-to" guy, he needs to feed off the flow. The more he thinks about it the worse he does. Focus on elite defending (if you deny he is an elite defender you are aren't paying attention) and let the offense happen. Kid is a warrior out there and I really don't get the negative shade thrown his way.

So on one hand - you embrace (your guy) Torres in spite of some serious limitations and on the other hand you hate Rex? Utterly ridiculous.

"My guy" was tongue in cheek, I believe I commented earlier in the thread about him coming in and providing a spark early in the game.

Sorry to ruffle your feathers, Mr. Pflueger.

I understand what Rex normally brings to the table. But he was doing none of those things Saturday. Again, another sarcastic remark by me. I really don't care to see what Matt Gregory has to offer.

The whole NCST game was a disaster. First time I felt like the team just didn't show up. Mooney started and I think made one sub back in before being shut down for the day - obviously injured and a big loss. I really expected having Farrell back would provide some fire.

Offensively we, are toast with Burns and Torres in there at the same time. I don't understand why we don't rotate them in separately. Burns has inherited the Matt Ryan leash - shortest in CBB it seems. I really don't understand why. This is his chance to develop ahead of next year's roster and be a more meaningful contributor.

Just abysmal offense but mostly disappointed by the flash in the pan defense/rebounding. Felt like they could have hung their hat on a lunch pail, tough approach to fight but haven't seen it last few games. I had this marked up for a loss - but the way we lost is what is most concerning. Hope they can find some fire and compete b/c they look like they gave up on the season Saturday. At the same point - NCST came to play, wasn't going to be an easy out.

Still tons to play for, I'm just not convinced the team agrees.

I think you meant caustic, not sarcastic. I enjoy Gregory scoring a lot, Nellie in warm ups showing surprising hops. They are all student athletes in my book worth cheering on. Sorry they can't live up to your expectations.

Torres is a terrible basketball player at the college level! Anywhere inside of 5 min. near the end of the game he shouldn't even be considered to enter the game. It's a hope and a prayer that he can even hit the rim on a FT attempt (ahem, the 2 clanks inside of 1 sec. at the IU game that opened the door for that loss in OT)!

Well Torres is starting the game today. Idk what brey sees in him but honestly I love his energy but he can’t score and plays decent defense. Maybe brey is trying to get some energy back into these guys which they badly need

Please, no more lineups consisting of Burns, Torres, and Rex. I’m literally hoping TJ or Farrell just shoots the ball when they cross half court with that group in at the same time.

Well Robinson scores almost 20 a game but ya still giving up 42 at home to an opponent is so bad. Also his 42pts is the most ever for opponent at purcell

Like ND is probably going to hold on here but I’m just perplexed how they haven’t decided “hey let’s maybe keep the ball out of that guy’s hands.”

They tried denying. Rex overran and he hit a three.

We started running a double at him. They ran him weak side and started posting Gibbs.

On the plus side, I think we held The other two under their season averages. So, you know, there is that...

Also, this guy scored 30 at Virginia, that may be more impressive than 46 against us

You would think idk maybe double him or trap him.

Wow 96pts with this team is something else. Great win. Terrible defense on one guy but other then him they did really well.

Let’s hope this up starts our guys

The Irish finally come out of the gates strong hitting 3s on their opening 2 possessions, but Farrell picks up 2 quick fouls and has to go to the bench at the 16 minute mark.

Some good minutes from Burns today and 6 3s so far. Good ball movement and much better shot selection from ND.

About every one of our turnovers is from trying to dump the ball to the post after a drive.

Gotta know who you're throwing the ball to. Torres and Geben aren't going to be able to make those catches on bounce passes in congested areas.

Didn't realize Stan Wilcox was the FSU athletic director

I looked at his bio. Super impressive.

That’s an impressive win. I wish I could have watched it. I said earlier I didn’t think we would win another game I’m very glad I was wrong

Apologies for asking this as I have not followed basketball this season.

Is Bonzi done for the season? Or will he be able to come back for the home stretch?
