I meant more "how did he have a 17 rebound game on a broken foot"

Simple..............STUD!

Excited for coach and surprised by the final score as I went to bed when we were up 14.

My word of caution. As mentioned by SSCD, this team played loose. Was it because there was no pressure with C & F out? Now the real test begins. Do they start to feel pressure now that roles have changed and they will be expected to contribute more? The adrenaline and excitement of playing more will lessen as more minutes become the norm. I'm hoping these guys take advantage of the situation and keep the ship afloat until both are back. With Brey at the wheel I think we'll be okay.

Good post. I think the jury is still out on Burns. He just looks slow and not all that athletic (sounds like a Brey big). I will have to see how he progresses through the next couple games. 7 more wins in ACC play is very likely if they can play at 75% of what they did last night, the rest of the year.

Go Irish!

Do you mean Burns or Mooney? Burns looks plenty athletic to me - slowed by thinking too much or feeling out of place.

I'm talking about Burns but you may be right - maybe it was his running style that distracted me. He did have a nice little dunk last night. I actually look at Mooney as having some pretty decent potential. He's not the most athletic but he's a shooter and a big bodied guy that can improve on D down low.

Can’t play Torres and Geben onthe floor at the same time Against a zone. Have no one to run the high post.

Ya seriously. We have a ton of offensive rebounds and we only got 1 pt. Not a good start

We are only playing three Guys at time that are legit offense of threats. It makes it easier on Syracuse.

Ya well cuse isn’t very good either. We haven’t beaten cuse in the dome since 2007. It’s not gonna happen today either.

We shot 20% in the first half. I can’t imagine seeing that going up at all

Brey also said that Farrell won’t be back for another 2 weeks either. That’s at least 4 games he’s gonna miss.

Was seen on crutches back on campus

Two straight possessions we should’ve been at the foul line. Obey Heimos to give them the what for half time, the officials that is

Terrible officiating as always whenever we aren’t home. Making it a game tho. A lot more crisp passes

No call on the Torres bucket, No call on Gibbs Drive, Battle free throws on the touch foul on Rex. We need some help to win games going forward, not this.

We do need help but we need to help ourselves make making some damn shots. Harvey looks like a freshman can’t make anything right now. We are fighting hard on the boards tho which is a surprise.

Tried to Pirate the game out here in Jamaica before time expired but failed. Nice win! Can’t wait to see the last second shot by Pflueger. Looked like an offensive game..jokes.

Really really nice win. I was wrong that there was no way they were gonna win and I’m really glad I was wrong

When the going gets tough the tough get going!

Brey is earning his wins now! New team, new attitude since Christmas break.

The internet people say they will need to be 9-9 in ACC play to make the tournament. So six more ACC wins.

There are only eight games left against non-Top 25 teams, and one is Louisville.

The next game, at Georgia Tech, is pretty crucial.

The Bonzi and Matt injuries may be somewhat of a blessing in disguise in the long run (including next yr.). Though I wish they were there playing now, it ss forcing others to come out of their shell and contribute more than expected. Get those two guys back fully healthy right before the ACC and NCAA tourney would be huge, having the younger players getting more playing time between now and then.

Luckily we will be home with 3 of the top 25 teams coming to town. 2 of them Farrell should be back. The UNC game this upcoming Saturday is at home but chances are Farrell won’t be back yet. We have 7 more home games hopefully we can win at least 5 of those games

I can't even believe that the Irish could find a way to win a game where they shot 30% from the field and 24% from outside. The team played hard on defense and got the win by out-hustling Syracuse and playing tough. Are those 21 offensive rebounds a school record? Kudos to the team, but they have a lot to work on if they want to make the tourney.

Gibbs looks to be the only player on the team right now (at least with Bonzie and Matt out) that can take his man off the dribble and get to the basket. He's proving he can lead this team next year. I was high on Harvey coming in and, while he has shown flashes at time, he seems to play timid and he settles for the jump shot way too often. Needs to learn to go up strong when he pulls down a board. Geben, Burns and Torres have zero offensive skills and are all liabilities on that end of the floor, but they all play solid D and can rebound well. Wish Geben could learn to shoot an 8-10 footer because they were giving him that shot all game long. His passing has improved a ton this year though! Was really happy to see Burns knock down two free throws late with the game on the line.

Since it looks as though the Irish will likely be on the tourney bubble in March, this win could very well be the difference between making it to the dance or not and I'm glad they found a way to scrap out a win on the road vs a decent team. Go Irish!!!
