IDK he isn't a homer by any means, think it truly is his thought on it

I want to believe that's true, but then I remember the way OSU fans/beat writers still thought Urban could flip all of the momentum on Eichenberg in one weekend. For all we know the Austins could be silent commits already. I'm not saying we should give up, but we need to start throwing kitchen sinks at these kids if we want to have a real shot.

Do we have a 'who's next for 2016?' thread yet? If not - next up with be Bredeson or Angeline unless we offer someone new or decide to let a tier 2 kid go ahead and pull the trigger.

Scout- Staples: 'ND would be No. 1'

Notre Dame visited three-star Malik Staples this week and the Georgia athlete likes what he’s heard from South Bend.

Peachtree Ridge High School in Suwanee, Ga., owns one of the most talented rosters in high school football. Notre Dame defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder and defensive backs coach Todd Lyght visited on Thursday.

Junior three-star running back Malik Staples is one of the headlining prospects Notre Dame is evaluating at Peachtree.

“I talk with Coach VanGorder a lot,” Staples said. “I could definitely see myself playing for him. He says Notre Dame has such a need for safety right now that he likes me on defense instead of as a running back. I actually am a big advocate of that.”

Staples, who plays both running back and safety in high school, says his mom has always preferred he’d play safety.

“I didn’t have a dad around growing up, so I always looked up to Ray Buchanan (former NFL pro-bowl selection), who has a son on our team (three-star cornerback Baylen Buchanan),” Staples said. “My mom saw his success in the NFL at corner and safety, and she knows that safeties have more longevity in the league than running backs do.”

Should Notre Dame pull the trigger on offering Staples, the Irish would become the team to beat.

“Notre Dame would be No. 1 for me if I was offered,” Staples said. “It’s such a great school. Knock on wood this doesn’t happen, but if I get hurt and can’t play football anymore, then I would still have my Notre Dame degree, which is outstanding. I could get a job anywhere with Notre Dame backing me up.”

Staples named Illinois as another program recruiting him for defense.

The 6-foot-1, 215-pound prospect has decided not to name favorites until the conclusion of his junior year.

“I’m evaluating all of my options right now,” Staples said. “I will come out with a list this summer.”

Staples’ offer list includes Boston College, Georgia Southern, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Marshall, Navy, Ohio, Oregon State and Wake Forest.

Staples took trips to Georgia, Louisville, North Carolina and Tennessee this spring.

Staples is a three-star prospect and is ranked as the No. 101 running back in the Class of 2016.

Other top prospects to play for Peachtree Ridge include senior four-star cornerback Nigel Warrior, four-star cornerback Chad Clay, three-star cornerback Baylen Buchanan and rising junior DeAngelo Gibbs, a five-star receiver.

Quite the loaded secondary for Peachtree Ridge

Good place to drop some of this at.

Sanford will be in Texas to watch QB Dillon Sterling-Cole throw today. An offer could come his way with a good showing. Sounds like we are, at the very least, getting a jump on round 2 of QB's after Fink/Haskins.

Also, a new name to follow is Ill. DT Mike Pasaniuk. Was DL MVP at the NFTC in Chicago. As some have already seen that was a loaded DL group, he beat out the likes of King, Robertson, and Naquan Jones. He'll be getting a visit from Denbrock today. It doesn't sound like we are going to be making a move but we are trying to get a lot of these DT's to campus for II to work them out.

as i posted in hunter johnson's thread yesterday regarding one of his teammates...we now have made contact

"Notre Dame has been to my school a couple of times the past few month. They watched me [last] Thursday, and they said that if they lose another running back, then they will call my coach," Akinribade said.

"I like Notre Dame a lot," Akinribade said. "That's an offer that would mean a lot to me and my family."

an offer from the Irish could be on the way.

"He said that the coaches are going to talk it over tonight," Chris Cole told Blue & Gold Illustrated.

Chris Cole said that an offer from Notre Dame could have a big impact on his son's recruitment.

"Oh yeah it would," he said. "When you think of Notre Dame, you just think about how they are independent and how they play everyone. It's just that prestige."

Was offered from Florida yesterday and UCLA recently. Probably about to shoot up the rankings.

Denson has been in contact with Ole Miss wide receiver commit DeKaylin Metcalf(Ht 6-3 Wt 19540 4.68SH 4.30), has been committed to Ole Miss since July of 2013 and was recently invited to the Rivals Five-Star Challenge and The Opening

looking to visit in summer
"I have a lot of interest in Notre Dame," Metcalf said. "Me and my dad are supposed to go up there for a visit. They invited me to camp but I think it's going to be more of like a visit."

"I was in ninth grade when I got an offer from Ole Miss so I was real happy and I committed right then, but I had no idea all of these other colleges would be coming after me," Metcalf said. "I have talked things over with my dad and he thinks it would be disrespectful to decommit from Ole Miss … but it's my commitment and he said that he would take me around to check things out."

will also compete this weekend at the Mississippi High School Activities Association Track State Championships. He will compete in the triple jump, 4x200 relay and the 11 hurdles

Donte' Vaughn

"They were at my school last week and I got to talk with Coach Lyght on the phone," Vaughn said. "We had a good conversation and talked a lot about how the school works and everything. I would say that I'm interested … It meant a lot of them to send two coaches, because that's a high class school." - See more at: https://notredame.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1764362#sthash.Ui8UVAWD.dpuf

Brian VanGorder was at Roswell (Ga.) High on Thursday, which is the home to Rivals100 linebacker Tre Lamar. Lamar told Blue & Gold Illustrated back in January that he wanted an Irish offer, and he got one, but not much has changed since

more realistic target might be Lamar's running mate, three-star linebacker Tyrone Hooper

Booker passed through Virginia Beach Ocean Lakes, five-star cornerback and FSU commit Lavonte Taylor. Other recruits at the school include 2017 four-star running back Khalan Laborn and 2017 four-star athlete Eric Crosby.

Booker was also at Bealeton Liberty High to gather information about linebacker Chase Pines, who will camp for the Irish Invasion on June 19.

Doubt we get any of those. We need to win some ball games, we need MSU to lose a few and then we can circle back for Robertson/King. Lots of time until signing day and if we play up to our potential, we'll start poaching like that dude from Jumanji.

Melquise Stovall

"We haven't talked much, but [Coach Denbrock] was at my practice last Wednesday and talked to much coach," Stovall said. "I'm not sure what position he wants me at but I think it's in the slot … SC wants me as an offensive athlete — a running back, a slot and a Y. Some schools also want me as a cornerback and a nickel."

remains committed to USC, he did mention that an offer from Notre Dame would give him something to consider in the recruiting process.

"I have watched them since I was little. The school is full of tradition, and it's all about football there. That would be a real big offer for me, and I would definitely like to take an official visit out there for sure," Stovall said. "I would want to see what they have to offer and stuff like that — I want to see just what it's like."

Christian School five-star wideout Demetris Robertson makes it to campus for the summer event, or at least there's a plan in the works to make it happen. (irish invasion)

"We're going to try and make that trip and actually make the drive and see a little countryside because we want to see Notre Dame as a whole. We know what it's about, but now it's a matter of actually checking out," his older brother and guardian, Carl Robertson, said.

The Notre Dame coaching staff feels good about where they stand with Robertson right now, and are also working on locking him into an official visit this fall

Really? Limited space, in good standing with a few prospects and still adding to the offer list with a 3 star MSU commit.... Hmmm?
