Our Lady is getting greedier every year... Difficult for young alumni and families to afford $125. Of course, you could still go to the cheaper games, but I'd like to think the university could keep things under a hundred bucks and still make a profit.

The tendency to sell out every game would seem to indicate that the games are actually UNDER priced.

Yeah unfortunately you're right on that one.

BTW ,I got a call from the ticket office last week asking if I would like to be on the waiting list, they said they we're expanding the list this year. Anyone else get the call?

Yes, they are under market value for sure. I just don't like the higher prices because they shift the stadium demographics toward retirees and because they exclude young alumni like myself.

Though my personal interest is significant, I'm more concerned about the fact that high prices make for a less intimidating stadium atmosphere. I only plan to go to one game a year as a reunion with college friends, so the price isn't as big a deal as it could be. I just hate golf clapping sit down sonny blue hairs.

Ask for new seats. My brother's seats are in Section 18, and I have used them at least a dozen times, without anyone ever once asking me to sit down. In fact, at this past year's Michigan game; about halfway through the second quarter I noticed that there was a young girl behind me, about 9 or 10 years old. I noticed her as I was standing up, and I looked at her dad and said "Sorry" and kind of moved aside a bit, so she could see easier. Her dad told me, "Don't worry about it, wherever you stand is fine." I've always had very positive experiences with cheering loudly and standing for 90+% of the game.

Got a call and email. Said it's free to get on the waiting list. What's the catch? I haven't responded yet.

Grew up in the Bend. Dad worked at ND, was season ticket holder. Been going to games since '64. Have ticket stubs with $6.50 prices. While the market will allow EVEN MORE, don't they make enough? As Dad said, "it's all about $$$ now". Too bad.

I got 4 but I'm going to hold on to them. Could sell them for $1000 each down here. UT is gunning for a statement game for Strong.

No catch that I know of, it's more of a you get a call and "hey we have season tickets at "X" spot, pony up the dough or we'll call the next person."

Didn't see any threads with lotto results. I am in need of Clemson tickets, got 2 Texas, 4 USC and 4 Fenway Park that I have to figure which to trade and which to use.

Thinking of taking the family to Georgia Tech game (fits in the school calendar well) if there are any season holders with four together that would tip the scales.

Three apps and no Clemson, I know the odds suck with only like 500 up for grabs but just annoying.

If you aren't set on going to Fenway, I'd sell those and buy Clemson if that's the game you want to attend. I know in theory you're not supposed to sell the alumni lotto tickets, but there's no way for the school to police that, and the Fenway tickets are absurd online right now.

I'll take the Fenway tickets off your hands. I'll trade you. How does UCONN @ Temple on November 28 sound?

I almost balked at the $175 face on the BC tickets, then I realized Fenway seats about half of ND Stadium and is our home game in BC's home town. Plus the Army game at Yankee stadium got rave reviews form anyone I have talked to that went to it.

I was thinking I could go with some buddies but it is the weekend before Thanksgiving, rough travel time for family guys. Looking like he highest demand game of the year right now by a pretty good margin.

If ND was smart they would get in with StubHub and make the tickets more marketable while getting better demand data. They could probably squeeze a royalty fee or service fee out of facilitating e-tickets on the site.

Location based pricing is where they need to go, uppers and endzones should cost less than sidelines. With the online system now it shouldn't be that hard to build a model for the lottery. I'll submit for any game on sidelines but I'm not going to UMass if I am upper endzone at any price (due to travel).

I think the prices will come down once they send the tickets out in mid-August. Just looked it up, Fenway capacity is 37k, Yankee stadium 49k. Beantown full of Irish Catholics, yeah this one might be a tough ticket. Maybe $500 minimum will hold up, that could bankroll one hell of a Clemson weekend!

For the record, I f-ing hate BC and their fans. I don't know that I want to witness this in person because if we lose my head might explode.

They had that for this one. It was only two zones (sideline and not-sideline), but still more stratified than ND stadium.

My sister starts at BC this fall. She's thinking of joining the marching band for the sole purpose of this game, just to rub my face in it.

Your sister sounds like a real douchebag, she picked the right school.

Only stratified game was Fenway park and the higher priced tickets were not available in the lotto (for me at least). I like they charge different per game, probably a matter of time before they break up ND Stadium into a few tiers.

End of the day, price the damn tickets so scalpers drop their season tickets. Give alums a chance at decent seats through the lotto and less fear of getting stuck with shitty seats to a shitty game.

Season ticket holders pay a fortune above and beyond face value for their seats and those fees are stratified. $2,200 for sideline, $1,650 for Corner, and $1,375 for Endzone in addition to face value. Nobody is making any money scalping ND season tickets.

Which is why the stadium turns the wrong color for big games. Opposing fans pay up and season holders are happy to cash out or give them to corporate relationships with the wrong rooting interest.

$570 for six games plus $2200 for sidelines is $460/game. I will grant you that is pretty steep. Cheapest sideline for Texas is $800 on stubhub, GA Tech $400, UMass $225, Navy $330, USC $575, Wake Forest $220

total $2,550 versus $2770 out of pocket

Now consider your $2200 donation is tax deductible or better yet, the whole thing a business expense. Cuts that cost in half more or less, amounting to a tidy after tax profit. Now factor in the select crew with prime seats b/w the 30s and less than 40 rows up, those can charge substantial premium to the prices quoted. Then consider the folks that are donating money anyway so the tickets are a bonus to what they are already giving.

I bet they also had first dibs on sidelines for Fenway park, those are worth it. Bowl game tickets? First dibs. Parking passes, you bet.

Forgive me if I don't cry a river for the season ticket elite. I am all for more of those being cancelled to free up tickets for alumni lottery and the unwashed unconnected folks. Hopefully the new press box draws some of that crowd out of the stands too.

Corporate or not, you still get to deduct the $2200 don't you? And they only started charging a seat fee a few years ago I believe. Quite a deal they had for decades prior!

I would wager ALL of those season tickets are lower level. If someone is paying $1300 for rights to an upper level season seat they need their head examined.

At risk of sounding like a snob, I don't get all the non-alum season ticket holders getting first dibs on the best seats while alums are stuck in a lottery fighting over the scraps.

If I'm in the corner or endzone, I'd rather be as high as possible. I had third-ish row in the endzone freshman year and you couldn't see a damn thing south of midfield.

From the season ticket FAQs, "The [waiting] list is NOT first-come, first-serve. It is based on one's affiliation with the University and a lottery within each affiliation."

I kind of agree though. When demand exceeds supply to the point of needing a waiting list and charging $2,200 above face value for season tickets, they should at least consider restricting season ticket access to alumni in named societies. I assume you're at least a Sorin member since you were able to pull BC?

If I lived in Chicago, in my line of work. I would probably go for at least two if not four endzone season tickets. I could expense the whole thing and have some nice swag with clients, in addition to spending an entire day to build better relationship with someone. With a national alumni/fan base, this method is screwy to me. Only locals (including Chicago) are reasonably likely to use all 6/7 game tickets while you have tons of alums making an annual pilgrimage to one game. Want four together? Gotta buy from a season ticket holder. Sideline? Season tickets only. Lotto with high odds of upper deck seats? Thank your sheepskin!

Prior to the seat fee, if I understand correctly, you had seniority determining location with no seat fee. Families held on to the tickets and were insane to ever give them up, even if they ate half the tickets. For years the university was gifting money to season ticket holders (many of which you know damn well were scalpers). For those that are giving that much I say thank you, you get first dibs. Now having some foursomes available for various giving societies to dole out would make some sense to me. Provide a carrot for those from further away, say every 3-4 years you get an option on a decent foursome. I bet you would see a decent uptick in those societies as a result and net more in the long run.

I was planning on coming down for Texas or Georgia Tech(NDSU plays UND for the first time in over a decade, the state will be insufferable), but with those face values I'm a little terrified to see what they are going for on the secondary market.
