Interesting tidbit from II. Out of the base 4-3, Jaylon is the starting SAM with Randolph behind him, Moore running 3rd. Mike goes Schmidt, Larkin, Deeb. WILL goes Turner then JO.

I was told not to get to deep into concerning myself about Turner and JO playing LB.... (not by you but still). LOL.

Me likey Randolph at Sam BTW. Me likey....

I'm officially nervous about our linebacker corps. Sure it would be a great story if the walk-on and former walk-on become All-Americans, but short of that, what does it say about our linebacker corps? Thrown in a scholarship safety who couldn't crack the two deep as the starter at WILL. Yeah, this doesn't seem like a good thing.

This is why the front 7 scares me. LB isn't even the biggest unknown IMO, it's the DL.

I was blanking on who JO would be and then I realized that Onwualu had been down there for a few snaps.

I am assuming a healthy Ben Councell gets the nod at Will????

I think if he was 100% healthy you'd see him at one OLB and Jaylon at the other. But I would've initially thought SAM because he doesn't seem to have prototypical build for WILL. The other guy to watch, IMO, is Doug Randolph. Plus all your incoming freshman.

I wouldn't worry about depth charts at any position. In spring, everyone gets a shot... and how people line up in one practice may have no bearing on where they will be slotted in the fall.

How can you say that? We only have one guy in our LB corps with any significant playing time (Jaylon) while we have a proven starter in Day; veterans in Ishaq, Jones, Hounshell , Utupo and Springmann and talented young guys like Trumbetti, Rochelle and Dickerson.

That is far different than one of the positions having a two deep of walk ons and another with a converted safety.

I agree with this and what Lax said above as well. I'm just not goin to put the caveat that this is spring practice in front of everything I post. I'm just posting what others are reporting and regardless of who starts against Rice I still find it interesting that we have two walk-ons in the two deep for this practice.
