With college football kickoff right around the corner, I'm getting more and more excited. It'll soon be time for whiskey and fried food every Saturday (well, more than usual). There aren't too many interesting match-ups in week 1, though (surprise).

Most of Notre Dame's opponents for this season aren't playing anyone too tough or aren't playing week 1 at all (Stanford & ASU). Perdue vs. Cincy and Pitt vs. FSU are probably the only Irish opponent's games that seem worth watching to me.

And more broadly speaking, Georgia vs. Clemson, LSU vs. TCU, and S. Carolina vs. UNC are the only other non-Irish related match-ups I'm interested in seeing. What do the rest of you guys have your eyes on for week 1?

Clearly you already have fried chicken on your brain!

Haha, good catch on my spelling, you beat Dshans to it. And in the words of the great Homer Simpson, "Mmmmm, fried chicken." (Extended drooling with eyes rolled back in pleasure).

I'm excited to see the battle of the Carolinas. Will be fun to watch Clowney destroy the guy who might be the best OT in the ACC, James Hurst. That name ring a bell? He's the former Irish recruit from Indy that chose UNC over the Irish. Good luck kid...you're going to need it :)

What'd be worse, Clowney for one game or Tuitt every single day?

I work with a guy who's a VA. Tech grad. I already offered my condolences for having to see his team open against Alabama. If VT pulls an upset, his beers are on me that week.

Without Hood there's no way ND hangs with Temple....

I'm basing this on nothing but unsubstantiated gut feeling, but I suspect that one team will get embarrassed and exposed as being unworthy of a top 10 ranking in this game.
100 % agree and i think it is gonna be Georgia.

Virginia Tech is starting a True Freshman Left Tackle against Saban's D.

Good luck....

I don't know how VA Tech hangs. With all the departures this offseason, and I don't mean to the NFL. You need a deep talented roster to hang and I don't think VA Tech has either. On point, I'm looking forward to LSU and TCU. Geaux Tigers.

Wait, you mean other teams have drama in the offseason?

Fire Beamer!!

The Georgia vs Clemson games is the one I am most interested in.

Good choice, Elijah! Good choice. You can be the one bright spot on an average team.

So I guess not going to class really doesn't pay off for the Tar Heel players. Ole Ball Coach is giving them the real lesson right now. Still... three quarters left. We shall see.

Anyone notice one of South Carolina's kickers wearing glasses underneath his helmet. Not rec specs either. Legit wire frames.

UNC is going to be really average this year. It would be 21-0 if not for a dropped touchdown.

Have fun, Hood.

Just like pretty much every other year.

Their QB looks like he'll really hold them back. Their only offense is bubble screens and they're 50/50 so far.

Also - if we're #2 DL behind South Carolina's I'm very disappointed. No one on their DL has made a play, Clowney included but that's cause he's double teamed. Point is, the other guys are one on one for the most part and doing nothing with it.

Nice little drive right there by UNC. Even though it was helped with some penalties. But until the defense can get a stop they are going to struggle.
