2012 Class Hypothetical

Would you rather:

A) Take a 100% non-wavering commitment from the guys verballed, but in return no other big names will sign the rest of the way.

*So basically we are guaranteed everyone on board right now, but no other 4 or 5 star guys are added.

OR

B) Play it out the way it will in reality, with the risk of guys flipping, but the chance of still grabbing some huge names.

I would take "A" at this point, although Gunner being in the mix makes that a tough choice.

I'd take A as well. We have a great group of recruits, and I wouldn't want to lose any of them for a chance at others.

Definently A. We have a solid foundation of guys right now and I don't want to lose any of them. Anyone else we get to fill out this class will be icing on the cake.

In the end, my dream class of realistic possibilities would be ending with 21 commits. The current 15 plus Pool, Rios, Kiel, McNamara, Neal and Odenigbo.

Id like another OL, but dont see it happening, and I dont think we should take another RB just to fill a numbers crunch. I like Russell, but I think we would be better served to keep Theo in the backfield next year, bring in Mahone this year and keep pushing hard for the big fish next year. Wood, Atkinson, Riddick, McDaniel, Roberson and Mahone will get us into 2013 fine when all but Riddick would still have eligibility.

I said realistic, but let me make it clear I do not think it is likely. Neal and Odenigbo I see us having less of a chance with than the others.
If we were able to land that class though, I think we are looking at a class probably in the 8-10 range.

Darby has taken visits, including his recent one to Auburn and after every one the kid has come back and reaffirmed his solid commitment to Notre Dame. He said in the beginning of the process he was committed to Notre Dame, but was going to take visits just to check out other places, and he has done just that. Tee and Greenberry have done the same thing. Part of the college football recruiting process is that when you land big fish early on, you get everybody else's best shot to take them from you. I would be shocked if Darby ended up anywhere else but ND.
