Well, the 2011 grad rates for all universities have been made available, and once again, ND is on top. Here's the link:

Scout.com: The Bootleg's 2011 Graduation Rate Analysis

Some interesting numbers:

Football:
ND = 96% (#1 in the country)
USC = 61%
Michigan = 72% (not awful)
Rutgers = 86% (for some reason, that one surprised me)
Miami = 81% (well done Shannon!)
Oklahoma = 44%
Texas = 49%
South Florida = 46%
Georgia Tech - 49%
Arkansas - 55%
Tennessee - 53%

The biggest discrepancy between African American players who graduate and Caucasian players who graduates belongs to Auburn, who graduate 100% of the white players and only 49% of their black players. Pathetic. Texas graduates just 38% of their black players!!! And sadly for me, coming from a UCLA family, UCLA graduates only 39% of their Black players. Equally pathetic.

Basketball
ND = 100% (tied for first w/ 5 others)
USC = 42%
Michigan = 46%
AZ = 20% (!!!)
UCONN = 31% (national champs baby!)

Baseball (OK now I'm just bragging)
ND = 100% (tied for first with 5 others)
USC = 44%

*** It's important to note, that if you're arguing about this with someone else, that players who leave school early to turn pro are NOT counted against your grad rate.

***It's nice to know as a fan that ND not only graduates their athletes (99% overall - yes, #1 in the country!), but they graduate their athletes with a degree that means something. They don't walk out with a paper degree, they walk out with an education. There are no 'football majors' like you'll see in the SEC and USC and Michigan, where the players graduate with a degree in 'General Studies' or Parks and Rec.

If Notre Dame starts to win, with parents knowing what a great education their children will receive and players knowing that they'll be a part of a winning program with a national fanbase, recruiting in football will become soooooo much easier. Win this year...and watch out college football world.

I bolded the most important part. Something to be extremely proud of.

Wow, that's awesome to see even though the about the same numbers come out every year. Just great to see ND on top of such an important category as this!

if i were a parent (with no previous bias) and ND offered my son, there would be no discussion

I think its pretty stupid when people say that their grad rates are low because of the draft. Did not know OKlahoma's grad rate was 44% because 56% of its players leave early for the draft.

I could see our % rate come down just a tad in coming years. I can really see a lot of our players leaving after their junior years to head to the draft. I can think of a couple players already standing out to me. It's not going to make a big dent, but the 96% days are going to be gone, in my opinion.

Um...

You don't have to worry about that. You probably missed what I wrote in the original post:

So having guys leave early doesn't matter. It doesn't hurt your grad rate. The way Notre Dame structures the athletes' courses (with summer school being mandatory) it almost guarantees that they will graduate in 4 years. They have a great system in place, and while it is difficult for athletes, far more than at say an Arkansas or something, it has been proven to be effective. You won't see that rate drop that much if at all, regardless of how well the players do on the field...

EDIT: Beat me to it RI!!!

What is most interesting is the overall graduation rate of the Big12 and the SEC! Synchronistic **** for these schools. Take (by in large) poor undereducated kids, use them for a few years, (most of them don't even make it for four years due to injury or ineligibility), and throw 'em out with nothing. The NFL, forget about it! No one tells these kids their chances are something less than 0.5% even if they receive a Division I scholarship.

Auburns figures are not that misleading if the one white player had a gimme PE degree . . .

Thanks for posting these graduation stats. We all know that Notre Dame excels in making sure their athletes graduate with a prestigious degree. You can bet your butt that our coaches and recruiters use these stats when they are dealing with prospects and their parents. It's nice to have these kind of numbers to use to our advantage.

Once again this is absolutely incredible. Other than being partially Irish and Catholic, this is what makes me be a diehard Notre Dame fan.
