One of the nation’s top safeties from the class of 2020 is already looking into his second visit to Notre Dame.
Carrollton (Texas) Hebron four-star safety Darius Snow tells Irish Illustrated and 247Sports that he’ll be back in South Bend for a game day trip and is looking at getting on campus for the Notre Dame game against Michigan on Sept. 1.
The 6-0, 216-pounder, currently ranked as the No. 3 safety nationally per the 247Sports Composite Rankings and No. 2 player at the position per 247Sports’ standalone rankings, recently visited campus on June 21. Following the trip, Snow spoke with Irish Illustrated’s Kevin Sinclair about the visit.
“I got to meet and spend time with all the coaches,” Snow said. “Coach (Terry) Joseph hosted me, however, so I was with him the majority of the day. They all had a variety of things to say, but ‘Notre Dame will give you the best of both worlds’ is what I heard most.
“I got to meet a few players (Phil Jurkovec and Tommy Tremble), but I did get to spend with (my cousin Braden Lenzy),” added Snow. “It was fun.”
In addition, Snow made it clear that he enjoyed the facilities on Notre Dame’s campus and although things may not be as flashy as some schools, everything was quite appealing.
“Their facilities and campus really resemble their tradition,” Snow said. “They don’t have that eye-popping new generation type look, but instead a really classy feel to them. That, outside of the new 49-million-dollar practice facility they’re building. Sheesh.”
Snow put on a show as a sophomore. In 2017, he racked up 136 total tackles, one interception, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and three pass breakups.
According to the 247Sports Crystal Ball, Michigan State is the perceived favorite. That may come as a surprise for a player from the Lone Star State, but Snow is the son of former NBA player and Michigan State standout Eric Snow. In addition to his father, the young prospect has multiple times to the Spartans through his family.
"Amazing as expected," Snow said to Spartan Tailgate, regarding his latest trip to Michigan State. "I got to see the whole campus, meet with coaches and take some nice pictures. I liked all of it. It’s well-rounded. They’re top class in just about everything I could ask for. There are so many people, too, I mean 50,000-plus. Wow."
