Medical school in Germany is different than the US. First it is paid by the government. Second there are more medical school spots than residency slots. I've had German exchange students who come to the US during medical school to improve there resume. I suspect going to undergrad at ND and playing football will be a resume bonus

My friend was a Brazilian exchange student in high school. He came back during med school to Knoxville for a summer program. If I remember right, it was a similar situation. More students than placements or something.

Simon Fraser, former Browns and stud DL on the 2002 OSU national champion is now a physician in Ohio. Probably same size as Alex. Pretty cool story on why he went back to medical school.
