Would rather have Briggs. He can play nose
Not me, like AK a lot more. Definitely has the size for nose.

I think he was saying he’d rather having Briggs over Smith not over AK.
The Colorado family loves Notre Dame, including his parents. He visited for the Stanford game and really enjoyed his time on campus. Keanaaina (pictured above with Brian Kelly) felt he fit in extremely well with the commits and inside Notre Dame’s environment. He’s been building a strong relationship with Mike Elston. Seeing Jerry Tillery register four sacks against the Cardinal was proof to Keanaaina that Elston’s message is more than hype. It wouldn’t be a surprise to us if the Irish actually led this race right now, but Ohio State is another school to keep an eye on. If the Buckeyes offer, it’ll be interesting to see whether that reshapes his recruitment, but as of now, Notre Dame is in a great spot.

Can't speak for Elston/Lea but he's #1 at Nose for me.
He'd be the best Nose prospect since...?

Lacey is a pass rushing DT in the same mold Sheldon Day. There is no doubt in my mind that he's a 3T-DT.Jacob Lacey
Considering I think Lacey will be a NT is our system that'd be my answer. And for clarification our "NT" is a 1T, not a 0T like Nix was with Diaco's scheme.

Just because he displays quick pass rushing abilities doesn't mean he's not a NT. I mean, if all you had to do was be big and fat to play NT at a high level, I think there'd be a lot more of them doing so. The difference between a guy like Bonner at NT and Lacey is, Lacey will make plays from that position. The goal is to find NT's that can do both, hold up against double teams and be able to make plays out of that position. Lacey can do just that.
Also, he's had to actively lose weight (at 18 years old) to get down to the weight Sheldon Day left ND at. Sheldon's senior year played a fair amount of SDE in our Nickel package, because he was arguably our quickest edge defender, they are very different players.
Side note, for some bizarre reason, fans think that playing NT is like the abyss of the DL. You only play the position if you aren't good at anything else, lol. Playmaking NT's are extremely valuable and rare. The good ones make a lot of money.

If we could have a guy like Lacey at NT, AND a quality 3T on the field at the same time, that would be really, really nice.
Exactly and that's the point. Finding a + player at both skillsets is hard, hence we don't currently have one.
Also, if Lacey isn't a 1T, who's the 1T in this class? Would seem fairly unanimous there is zero chance Cross is playing 1T and I doubt Spears (a converted SDE to DT) who's been told he might play some SDE/5T is being recruited for it either.

Yup.
With JayAde taking over at starting 3T, would love to have a + Lacy develop quickly at NT.
Any news on how Franklin is coming along?
