Highlights he posted last two years. Was essentially their “4th” safety (three safety look) 2020 and 2021 before starting this year. Cut short due to injury.

In Oklahoma State’s 3 - 3 - 5, he has most of his snaps coming in the slot area of the field, some depth charts list him starting at “Strike Safety”

“The "strike" is still that safety with the best cover skills, capable of going "man" coverage with the number two or three receiver on offense.”

If I hadn’t researched it and only watched that highlight video, I would indeed say that kid looks more like a Nickel CB.

ND 3 - 3 - 5 comin? Straight replacement for Bracy? Ability to play more of just like a FS - ND was a heavy Cover 2 team?

I'll be very comfortable adding proven experience at safety and DL.

Even though Harper isn’t actually landing a safety it looks like, it could make them even more comfortable moving Lewis or Barnes or whomever to safety.

Loy says so he likes ND to land him, and has the CB in.
Nice hopefully ND still is going after Catlon or another true safety. I'm guessing some guys get moved around especially considering there's pretty good depth at Corner right now. And I think Bell and Grey both can play right away

So for a secondary that was very good, you go from:

CB: Hart > Hart
CB: Morrison > Morrison
Nickel: Bracy > Harper
FS: Joseph > Transfer/Lewis/Henderson
SS: Brown > Watts/Transfer

Mickey in there as well for sure.

If you weren’t a fan of Joseph, gotta feel pretty excited at that possibility

Ehh the problem is you have Joseph > Transfer and a Transfer backing up Watts so you are suggesting we take 2 more guys that are safeties? I think Schuler is gonna play right away as well

I don’t think they’d take or even land 3 transfers

But Griffith and Brown were pumpkins at times so I mean as long as we have a body they can replace Griffith, no offense to him.

Tbh I think secondary is fine if there aren't injuries. Ben Mo + Hart is really solid, and then Mickey is your 3rd CB and I think he will show out next year.

Watts is a very good safety in my book, and Henderson isn't chopped liver. Then you add Lewis to that mix as a flex guy. I think you have 6 DBs that you can count on to play at a NY6 level.

Then you have three potential plug-and-play freshmen in Gray, Bell, and Shuler.

Do we know that ND is selling him on playing nickel? Are we sure that Harper isn't coming to try his hand at a more traditional safety role for an NFL future?

Free safety still looks pretty open to me.

Bracy had most of his snaps in the slot and nickel, as we all already know, but ND likes to use their safeties in the slot, too.

No insider info here, but I think they just want an extra body that can play that role, as well as safety.

I agree it's serviceable, the way LB was this year, but we could definitely use another good safety and identify a nickel.

No offense to either of them, but I do not like Henderson or Brown on the field at safety. They are both long strider's and just look slow getting off of hashes. Brown I think would be a good star safety rolled down into coverage against RPO teams. Maybe Henderson's is just lack of of experience.
