People always do this.

Dwight Freeney says hello for short DEs.

Drew Brees says hello for short QBs.

Aaron Donald says hello for short DL

Sure, there are exceptions to the rule but plot the heights/weights/athleticism of the different positions and most cluster tightly to the defined profiles with a few outliers.

Hopefully DiCosmo becomes Irish and hopefully he tears it up.

I get that there is a certain range of physical traits coaches like to shoot for and understand why. My point is when you find those outliers, don't get caught up in the fact the guy might be two inches shorter than what you want. You can't teach speed, quickness and quick twitch characteristics. You might be able to improve them slightly, but who cares if the guy is 6'2" if he is always creating pressure and gets you a sack a game?

BTW.....Robert Mathis also says hello!:)

6'2-6'3" (Dicosmo's sparq measurement lists 6'3") does not fall outside the profile for elite pass rushers. Justin Houston, Von Miller, James Harrison, Freeney all are around that height or shorter and I consider them the standard. It's an overrated measurement when it comes to pass rushers.

the more important physical statistic for a pass rusher to me is wingspan rather than height.

He must see himself playing MLB rather than Drop End. Pretty sure ND and MI offered him to play Drop and Stanford wants him as their next MLB.

Reverse my last post based on Loy's latest article. Miamen wants to be a TE and ND wants him at drop so he may done. Bralen Trice? Seems unlikely. Are we going to go the Tommy Eichenberg route?

The size thing always bugs me. If a player can play, size shouldn't be the main factor or possibly a factor at all. Reminds me of my daughter. She's a goalkeeper and is only 5'4. Most colleges only recruit 5'8 or taller. She was the first ever freshman to make her varsity team at the position last year and won the starting job, too and went to the playoffs. She can jump high enough to deflect high shots and being small makes her faster and more athletic than someone 5'10. Size can be important but it's not everything and height is not something anyone can control. Working hard to be the best is.

He’s a player and will be good given the right program. I want him in this class, no bones about that. But.......

Is this make or break, probably not. Can we get a pass rush from Nana, Lacey, Jayson A, Spears, amd whoever else we bring in this class. Probably a really good one.

Food for thought, Lacey was Clemson’s #1 DT for a moment. Nana was Texas’s. Jayson A’s was everybody’s. Literally, even Bama.

Yes I agree and I know its early but having another guy in this class who can rush the passer would be nice. 2020 hasn't gotten off to a hit start either like the offense has.

If he chose Stanford right now, 3 out of their 14 commits would be WDE's.

Was wondering this last night as well. Michigan people aren't sure why he hasn't committed to Stanford either. Wonder if it's a admissions issue. Also saw this...

Stanford plays a 3-4 defense. Joshua Pakola is already 6’3” 265-270 lbs and will almost certainly play on the defensive line at Stanford. Stephen Herron Jr. would play OLB and Tristan Sinclair probably at ILB. Stanford also has 13 guys on scholarship at the 4 linebacker position next season if u count those three commits that way. DiCosmo could come in early and probably get some burn on that squad. They don’t have tons of talent or numbers at linebacker.

Highly doubt it's an admissions issue. I think Stanford doesn't offer recruits until they've gone past admissions. Besides, this kid has offers from all of the Ivys.

Stanford was is/was recruiting him as an ILB, not their ROLB position. So, maybe that's still a hold up.

Regardless, didn't him or his Dad dog ND after visiting Michigan? Saying the Michigan visit was mind blowing or something?

If not Stanford, I still don't see ND getting ahead in this.

I don't know what his dad said, but after his ND visit it was said that it wasn't a fit. The two sides didn't seem to click. I would agree, even if it's not Stanford, it'll be somebody else.
