Top 15? My gut instinct says bet on the field.

That's not your usual top 15 tho

Yeah. This is a kid who basically just started the process, not a camp jockey who’s been being recruited for two years. Also, in reality, that looks like a top five with a bunch of regional and high-academic hats on the table out of courtesy.

Once you remove the "look at me, I'm smart" schools, we're basically talking about a top ten, which isn't that bad this far out.

If you have a top-15 then you really haven't narrowed it down. Like at all.

I think this is coming from a kid who’s got 35 offers and is totally getting bombarded with recruiting because of the fact that his parents are in town, he’s visiting a bunch of schools right now, and is a big time talent that is blowing up. So I think the idea is that he’s visited Virginia, Penn State, Rutgers, Boston College, Syracuse, Michigan, Notre Dame, Duke, and Texas A&M so far, and will visit Ohio State and Cal in the coming days which leaves Nebraska, Penn, Harvard, and Clemson as the schools he hasn’t visited but wants to hear more from. I think he wants to hear more from the schools he’s been to now and then during the month long dead period before he narrows down to the school he wants or couple of schools he wants to potentially go to. In my opinion, he’s playing the perfect game in recruiting right now. That being said, with all those high academic offers I sure do hope he ends up at a Notre Dame, Michigan, Duke, Virginia, Boston College or Cal where he can play power 5 football and get a great education.

Bunch of scUM CB's after he had just won DL MVP at their camp a few days ago.

Supposedly they got/expect 8 commitments last weekend. Seem to be coming out slowly.

Michigan’s 2019 recruiting class is contingent on September 1 & November 24th of this year. Michigan goes on the road to face ND & Ohio State. If Harbaugh loses both of those games this class could be open season for other schools to poach.

Hard to understand a guy silently committing and then laying down a top 5 immediately after

I don’t quite understand what Ojabo and DiCosmo - seemingly-academically-inclined defensive linemen from neutral territory in NJ - see in Michigan, as compared to Notre Dame, that has them visit both and then immediately commit to Michigan.
Anyone?

Top 15 to Top 5 to Committing, all in two weeks. Now that is impressive.

I cannot believe Michigan of all places.

Lame. Kid should be visiting Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, and Texas A&M in the fall for a second time. Then he can make the right decision. It’s unfortunate that between 8-48 hours (OV to ND) at each school is all he’ll have to make a decision on where he should be for the next 4-5 years of his life. People can fool someone on the first date. Hard to keep up the charade for a second time thru.

Sounds like he was a bit of an oddball, solid parents who got it but it didn't hook him.

Apparently he's into the low crime rate of Detroit. No italics, I'm from Gary.

Yeah. I don’t get how/why a kid with the phenomenal menu of options Ojabo had would make a decision so hastily. Yes, seems like he and his family are new to the process but you wish someone - a HS coach - would prevail on him to take his time.

Yea there are plenty of guys who’ve gone through their recruitment with a lot of strategy and an even head about things. For example, Dallas Gant didn’t choose Notre Dame but the kid took multiple visits to Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, and Michigan State and realized that ND & Ohio State were the final 2 and then decided after another few visits that Ohio State was the right place for him. Jaylon Smith took multiple visits to Notre Dame, Ohio State and Purdue before realizing that ND was the place for him. Having gone through a recruitment of my own when I was in high school I can tell you that kids should definitely try and visit a school multiple times if they have the means to do so because they always see something new or hang out with someone new at the schools they visit and the fluff and fake things fade away and you see the school and coaching staff for what it’s really worth. I think if you have an offer from Michigan, Notre Dame, Cal-Berkeley, Boston College, Vanderbilt, and Virginia then you owe it to yourself to get the full experience at the schools of those academic standards. He’ll do fine at Michigan, but I’d recommend taking in a game atmosphere in the fall at each of his final 5
