He's a kid I'd love to be Irish, but as a PWO. Unless he blows up this season or grows a couple inches, I just don't see it. Wherever he ends up, I hope he gets a great education as the next level at his size is not likely. If I were him, I'd go to best school for education that offers. He'll likely get a power 5 offer later if his kills it this year. A team like VA, CA, Duke, Vandy, or NW would be great landing spots if he could get an offer. And later, if ND strikes out on others, you never know.

Even if he does end up at ND, small wr's haven't done well under Kelly.

Will Fuller really sucked. TJ Jones, too.

Fuller and Jones were 3 inches taller weren't they?

Neal and Sanders are the comparables. And they were ranked well IIRC. Isn't Love still and NR? Not saying rankings are everything, but even Neal and Sanders who were short, but ranked well, didn't do well here.

And what did Neal do?

And what did Neal do?

Jones is 5'11. Fuller, 6'0. So, two and three inches taller than Love, respectively? That's taller, I guess, but certainly not tall by modern WR standards. And Fuller, in particular, was pretty skinny. We're not talking about Chase Claypool or Michael Floyd out there.

I'll give you Sanders being underwhelming. I was never sure why he didn't do more the last couple of seasons. I don't think Neal lasted long enough to form a judgement, and didn't leave for football-related reasons.

TJ Jones 6' 190
Will Fuller 6' 180

(6' is average height of US males, so not sure how they are considered small)

Want to try again?

The average height of an American man is actually 5'9. Which is Love's reported height. But the average American man is not a wide receiver at a major college football program, or - in their case - the NFL.

So ur point that ND does well with small wr is two guys above average height and multiple inches taller than player being discussed?

Plz tell me more

That's true...but I think it's more about BK not really featuring the slot in his offenses very often. This is the type of guy who would blow up with another team if we don't take him.

Jones's profile said 6 on 247, but I'm sure, like Love, is/was actually an inch shorter. I bet Love is really 5-8.

I'd love it if we had some burners that could take off the top like Tate or Fuller, but didn't work out well for anyone except Fuller under BK, who has more length than love. I'd ask first (I don't know) why Love isn't even ranked right now. Neal was 97.5 and Sanders was at least a 90. I'm sure if Love blows up, the rankings will come, and so will the offer.

You said we don't do well with small receivers. I pointed out that two of the best we've had had in recent years are definitely below average height for major college/NFL wide receivers, who run a lot closer to 6'4 than 5'9. Compared to, say, Chase Claypool or ESB, they are decidedly small.

I've no particular opinion on Michael Love. But it's not like you have to be 6'4 to succeed in our offense.

So ur definition of small wr is smaller than big wr's? Got it.

Show me a 5'9" receiver who has succeeded under Kelly, I'll hang up and listen.

Name the ones 5’9” that have been rostered.

All a moot point, he isn’t walking on at ND, I amongst many others have strongly advised against it. He’ll be committing soon. Barring some surprising offer in the near future for ND they’re out.

5'9" and under receivers during Kelly era.

Robby Toma
Nick Fitzpatrick
Eric Lee
Davonte Neal
Omar Hunter
CJ Sanders
Chris Finke

List doubles if u add 5'10" guys. So it's not many but not that it hasn't happened either.

My point had nothing to do with walking on. More of a, if ur son (or however you are related) is 5'9" and worthy of playing D1 football it might be in his best interest to not do at at ND as they have little to no history of utilization with this type of athlete.

any idea where they want him to play? Kid surely is good enough for a low BIG offer no?

Nope.

If it's me you put him at slot and CB during camp and let him show you.

I'd imagine a P5 will offer later when they start picking over the MAC's commit lists. He may have a growth spurt in him that gets him closer to Julian's height. If he's 5-10, he'd already have those offers.

I'm just hoping he gets a better academic offer, pissed Martin didn't offer him at Miami. That would give him a strong degree in the Chicagoland market.
