This decision is not going to come down to 1 guy in front of Foskey. If Foskey is going to go high enough in the draft where Anderson's draft status would affect his, then he should go in the draft. If it's not, then it doesn't matter.

How? I don’t want to put “piss poor” implications in Balki’s mouth but Anderson was a possible first rounder. Now probably isn’t.

It has no affect on Foskey’s draft grade whatsoever. It’s one less DE ahead of him. And there are still many DEs that will go ahead of Foskey. If Foskey and Anderson were the top players at the position, for example both likely to go into the Top 5, then I could see some logic.

it’s just a silly notion trying to find a connection between Foskey’s decision to leave early and Anderson’s legal battle.

The second sentence is all I think I or anyone was saying. Really don’t think anyone was trying convey it would have drastic effects

This is likened to Olave with Ohio St imo. Last year he could've went in a loaded class and gotten picked in the 3rd-4th round. He decided to come back and now is a lock to go first round. We'll see if IF makes the same decision, but I keep seeing him rise up rankings so it may be a harder sell to do this.

Has to be an awkward conversation for Kelly and the Foskey family i'd imagine. No one has more to gain from Isaiah coming back than him lol.

I don't know TBH, but given that Kelly has started this about a month ago, it may not be that awkward. I think BK will be very upfront and honest when laying out the pros and cons for both options.

absolutely. I would think they have some pretty good analysis about if you're going to get drafted at this position or higher you need to do it and if it's this position to this position you have a tough choice either way and anything worse than this position you would be foolish to not come back and improve.

I would think there's discussion about if you do come back here's what were going to do from a marketing/NIL standpoint.

During Kelly's tenure they have been very successful at re-recruiting and making it pay off. There is track record here.

Kelly also mentioned honesty and being up-front when discussing transfers and having those conversations with all the players at this point as well.

Transparency is the key and they seem to have a good understanding about that.

Not really. Olave would have been a 2nd rounder last year even in that loaded class. And this year WR class is also pretty loaded, it's a notch below last years but not to far off. The reasons why Olave would be a first round lock now is because of his performance on the field and his leadership this year, specifically the focus on the little things.

Just watching first half of of GT game again. He run a bit of amuck. If BK/Elston/MF get him to come back it will be great work.

Rekindling Foskey's punt block at Stanford a few years ago that turned the tide of that game and woke us the fk up.

It didn’t get here that Loy expects Foskey will return w Freeman hire and Elston back? Well there’s that.
Sampson has been hinting at the same. And Foskey's tweets certainly seem to support it. HUGE!

I heard someone mention that this year's draft is very strong on DEs and he might wait a year to cash in.

I’d love to see this happen, but I can’t see how this would be in his best interest. Not to be Debbie Downer. What am I missing other than a strong DE draft class?

That’s gotta be the biggest factor. The pay difference would likely be pretty significant if he was a second rounder this year vs a first rounder next year. Obviously it’s a gamble though and there’s no guarantee he goes higher next year.

You're not missing anything. 1st rounders get more money and 1 more year. That's a big deal.

I thought I saw most places evaluating him as OLB too. Which totally changes his draft prospectus

Sampson again said Foskey "appears likely to be back" in this morning's Athletic article. If he does return, there's a chance he can become ND's all-time sacks leader. Would need 11.5 in the bowl + next season

He just tweeted that we'll know soon his decision.... He said he's going to do what's best for him and his family.

My translation...... He gone

If he's leaving why even tweet that? Seems a strange way to go about it, considering decisions are probably being announced this week. Genuinely think it's misdirection.

Fun note, he technically has three years of eligibility left. He's only a redshirt sophomore with an extra "covid" year.

I'm leaning towards him not returning.

Pending his testing, he's probably a Top 50/75 pick.

Another great season would push him into round 1, no doubt about it. But, he is potentially leaving millions on the table if he returns and suffers a significant injury.

I've had this line of thinking for years with guys in college.... But I think these underclassmen are in such a hurry to start the process so they can get an extra year closer to that all important second contact where they really earn the big bucks. My inapt athletic ability never gave me the luxury of having to make this decision but honestly it does seem like a tough spot to be in imo

If he isn’t mid 2nd or better he should come back. And hopefully he listens to people that truly have is best interest at heart.

Would rather lose him now rather than after game #12 next year (opt out of bowl). That said, any chance JB moves back to Vyper?
