Is this guy any good? Welcome to the team!

Wrong thread... or is it?Welcome to Notre Dame Kaleb Smith.
Stinks for him. From all accounts, he did absolutely nothing this spring to make anyone (staff and reporters) think he would contribute this year. I don’t think this is a big losswell this sucks for him and the football team
Why be like this?Im not buying it, he came in as probally the most experience WR on the roster, was our guys out beating him?

I would guess that if he has some physical and mental health challenges that he's been trying to struggle with, this is partially why was so hard for him to beat out the youngins despite his experience. Probably was struggling at VT internally and thought a fresh start would do him good, but ultimately felt it was time to step away. Not buying what?
I can see your point you are trying to make here. He was mostly getting reps with the twos, and was being outperformed by some of the younger guys.
But, what, you think he just straight up quit and was sulking that some players two, three or four years younger were just outperforming him?
He could have transferred out and went someplace else.
This sentiment will probably not be a good one to some, but Smith seems like the type that won’t rock the boat of the current WR room tbh. Something that will always be part of the conversation.
I reckon he was getting beat out because of his health. I am hoping he can have time off and still come back and be better closer to the season. He was getting beaten in practice and was running with the 3’s. He’s a grad student and probably was over that kinda grind with no professional football future immediately on the horizon to motivate him to dig deeper. Good on him for getting a shot at a grad degree from ND, still should work out nicely for him.
Didn't listen to it all. But Driskall said he walked out of a practice
