I don't really see anyone here feeling bad for him. He made a decision to quit football and move on with life. I'm sure he has his reasons. But there's no need to shit on the guy either. He tried something and it didn't work out. No harm no foul. How bad can u feel for a guy who gets a free ND degree after quitting a few weeks into spring practice? Do that in the real world and you get fired.
You know you listen to all of Brian Driskoll all the timeDidn't listen to it all. But Driskall said he walked out of a practice

you can’t be fired if you quit first
hes only been enrolled for one semester. I'm not sure there is any post-graduate degree to speak on at the moment

Well said, I give the kid credit to focus on himself instead of risking his life for 1 possible mistake on the field. What a hot take to shit on a young man who makes a life decision to focus on his health.
No one is whiteknighting for him or anyone, but this bullshit pretending like you (generally) know exactly what is going on for another person is where the shit doesn’t add up. I’m basing my “judgment” of his exit based on what was written purportedly by him. If the University puts medical retirement as a nice stamp on it to protect their student athletes, then good on the University. But acting like you know the guy’s headspace because of Driskell’s or whoever the fuck’s sources say he quit is lazy.
And you know this because? SmhMedical retirements are how ND processes guys. He’s not focusing on his health anymore than you or the next Joe Shmo is when they hang up their cleats. I wish him well but the white knighting for him is weird considering he quit because he wasn’t good enough.
Okay, and I am basing my judgement on the facts of what’s been reported all Spring.
I would also note he was paid in the tens of thousands of dollars by FUND and isn’t even going to make it to Fall camp. I guess that’s the cost of doing business in today’s game.
He also was a multi-year starter and captain at a solid P5 program. Dude had more catches last year than anyone on our current roster. He doesn't suck and I doubt he just forgot how to play football. If he's dealing with either physical or mental health challenges that we don't know about, I see no reason to doubt that, or drag him for not being "good enough."Medical retirements are how ND processes guys.
