Lea used it, though sparingly, against Clemson in 2018 playoff game. Gave them all kinds of fits.

I don’t think we should be running it a lot. But, if I land Vaughns I’d most certainly throw that at teams. Likely gives one on one matchups for Vaughns, Mills, Botelho, and Cross. See how fast they can get home. Those be some quick dudes.
It makes sense in a 3-3-5. Perhaps the vision is to look for SDE/3 Tech types who can rush the passer a little bit and just have three of them on the field at once on first and second down.

This is how it is looking

It would be nicer to have a tall, long, big chunky boy with some movement skills to play the nose in that situation. 2 gap right over the center, eat up those interior blocks, let those SDE/3 Tech lads get some one-on-one matchups, potentially with a LB blitzing to shoot through the open gap on the interior.

ISD mentioned that the plan would be for him to play opposite Botelho at times. Not much more specifics than that. Likely means more situational packages for the defense. Which, if you believe you have holes on the roster and can’t find someone for those holes. Another is to get better at two positions and try to use both together.

However, in a recurring dream I’ve had since the 2018 Clemson Playoff game. Golden comes out like a boss with a Bear front of Vaughns and Botelho opposite each other with Mills, Rubio, and Cross down. Would be fun to see.
Isn't this effectively a 3-3-5 with Vaughns and Botelho as the outside backers up on the line? Then one middle LB (Bertrand?) and presumably a safety (Watts?) up in the box. Situationally, I'd take that. Though I'd be concerned about ability to set the edge on the run since that doesn't seem to be a strength of either outside guy.

You dont even see bear front against option teams killing a defense with the dive. It is as out of fasion as the wing T on offense leather helmets or the tossing belt.
didnt Billy B come out in Bear front vs the Rams in the superbowl and just absolutely own them?

No, he's in waiting mode from ND. Hasn't been given the OK yet. I would assume that means Admissions.
if he aint getting into ND by Sunday then hes not gonna be in for spring ball right?

I don't know all the logistics involved in admissions, but sorry, I feel like in this situation football needs to be expediated to the front of the line like it's a roller coaster line. No need for it to take this long to see if he can be admitted IMO.

Not sure if they need to be "good to go" for the first day of class, or they just need to be on campus by the drop/add date.

Wouldn’t pretty much every school be back in session by next week?

Until he visits elsewhere I’d assume he’s ours to lose (which of course we might). If he visits elsewhere I’d assume he gone.

Tuesday is the first day of class but you would think he'd want to know a few days early so he could find a place to live, drive his car there, etc.

I'm not optimistic about this one. And what ever became of the "secret" visitor?

One thing to consider here. I'm completely unaware of the process of graduate transferring into ND, so maybe someone can shed more light, but..

Vaughns has credits from both Texas and Utah State. He's somewhat of an outlier when it comes to past graduate transfers for the ND football program, who applied for a graduate program with only a credit/transcript from one university.

Yeah, the OLB from Utah State is going to command top dollar. The Mountain West Conference doesn't just settle.

This is going to be the response for every recruit and transfer that passes on Notre Dame.
hes not an NFL prospect, leveraging desperate college football teams at this moment to get a NIL deal isn't illogical considering the lack of DL/Edge talent in the portal
