He was definitely a system QB at Wake, and he came to ND to be a system QB in a pro style offense and give scouts a reason to believe he can manage a system at the next level.WR play and playing calling aside, he's missed reads and missed throws. Even if things are not always in his favour, you still expect him to make the right decisions and throws when needed. He's been far too inconsistent the last what... six games?
Goolsby called him "mid", and he is. Maybe he was just a system quarterback at Wake.
Completely agree… should have ran him a bunch yesterday .. it worked every time but there wasn’t manyHe was definitely a system QB at Wake, and he came to ND to be a system QB in a pro style offense and give scouts a reason to believe he can manage a system at the next level.
Problem is, there is no scheme or system to speak of so he, and a green WR corps, have been set up for failure.
Sam has been all class despite getting Parker instead of Rees. Dated to his word with Freeman and has been a good leader. He could be acting like Caleb Williams. He’d be significantly better if Rees, Ludwig, Klein, etc was here and we had a quality deep threat that would fight for the football.
I agree but barring injury or complete meltdown, we’ll see Sam for three more games. I worry now how he performs against his old school on Senior Day. First thought that jumped to mind was 3-4 picks as he tries too hard to force things when the going gets tough against his former team.Sam is a class act and appears, on the surface, to be a good man.
It just didn't work out and I'm on to the next QB.
Purdy did have a bad final season so he’s got that in common w/ Hartman.Sam will get drafted.
Everyone will be looking for the next Purdy.
I can see him eventually having success if he's put on a uber talented team like Brock, and limits his mistakes.
Breath of fresh air. They are actually saying things. 30% of the knowns have nothing to add beyond "haha where'd you coach dumb dumb".So many alter usernames
That puts you on even footing with the offensive coordinatorI wish the problem was just Hartman.
But, unfortunately, he is a little deal compared to the bigger picture here. Notre Dame has literally 0 identity offensively.
I have no idea how they would use Steve or Kenny. I have no idea how they would use another transfer. I don't even know what kind of transfer they would want.
I literally have zero clue as to anything offensively.
this is my biggest gripe. hartman came to Notre Dame and got worse. i've heard this bantered about and agree with it. i think it has more to do with our coaching staff and injuries to a thin receiving corps than it does hartman. i think the season is different if thomas and colzie aren't injured. evans for this last game. our player development looks like garbage. i pray that angeli and/or minchey are the real deal because we aren't getting a high end qb from the portal. Not with Parker calling the plays
Regardless of what's happened the past month or what will happen the rest of the way, Hartman has been great for this program. He is a significate upgrade from what we had in Pyne & Buchner. Mayer made Pyne look good and I have never been impressed with Buchner. Imagine if Mayer stayed this year, he even did better than expected his freshman year with Coan. One thing to be thankful for is Rees was still with ND when Hartman committed, if ND would've had Parker I don't see Hartman coming here. Do we call this move a failure and does it affect a QB transfer for next year? If you say yes, I don't blame Hartman.Sam has been all class despite getting Parker instead of Rees. Kept to his word with Freeman despite having the opportunity to bail and has been a good leader. He could be acting like Caleb Williams. He’d be significantly better if Rees, Ludwig, Klein, etc was here and we had a quality deep threat that would fight for the football.
maybe duke.Serious food for though question....Did Hartman beat anyone this year that TB12 wouldn't have beat? Obviously Hartman is the head and shoulders better QB....but thats not my question.
Maybe...but wasn't Hartman under 50% against Duke. I feel like they almost lost to Duke because of Hartmans poor play.maybe duke.
Nc state and duke, all our big plays but estime run was due to HartmanSerious food for though question....Did Hartman beat anyone this year that TB12 wouldn't have beat? Obviously Hartman is the head and shoulders better QB....but thats not my question.
yeah, it's big maybe. that's just the only team i could come up with. not saying we couldn't have won that game with buchner. i don't think wanting hartman was a mistake, but rees leaving for alabama AFTER the fact really hurt things. rees has shown the ability to tailor his offense to the situation, parker has not.Maybe...but wasn't Hartman under 50% against Duke. I feel like they almost lost to Duke because of Hartmans poor play.
It’s a good question but with Parker as OC and Buchner under center we might have 3 wins, not 7.Serious food for though question....Did Hartman beat anyone this year that TB12 wouldn't have beat? Obviously Hartman is the head and shoulders better QB....but thats not my question.
We had Tobias and Rico and a bit of tyree as only wrs that game, literally 3 wrs and 2 can’t not physically get open … insane passes to Evans and a last 2 minute drive, no turnovers tooyeah, it's big maybe. that's just the only team i could come up with. not saying we couldn't have won that game with buchner. i don't think wanting hartman was a mistake, but rees leaving for alabama AFTER the fact really hurt things. rees has shown the ability to tailor his offense to the situation, parker has not.
that's why i said maybe duke is the game that buchner wouldn't have won. i think that's the only game we've won that maybe buchner couldn't have. he would've probably been hurt before the duke game anyway. We had Tobias and Rico and a bit of tyree as only wrs that game, literally 3 wrs and 2 can’t not physically get open … insane passes to Evans and a last 2 minute drive, no turnovers too
We lose vs nc state too imo… can’t assume we bust a long 80 td td with tb as qb and absolutely no threat of passthat's why i said maybe duke is the game that buchner wouldn't have won. i think that's the only game we've won that maybe buchner couldn't have. he would've probably been hurt before the duke game anyway.
that's a good point, but we have to factor in tbs running ability. hartman has enough speed to take advantage of what the defense gives him at times, but he's not the runner tb is. also think would be a better passer at this point just because of playing time, but yeah, lotsa guesswork. We lose vs nc state too imo… can’t assume we bust a long 80 td td with tb as qb and absolutely no threat of pass
their whole offense was bad against usf. now rees is just running the qb as a staple and taking shots downfield. milroe only threw 23 passes last night against lsu. i'm not arguing tb is better than hartman btw. tb has certainly shown he can play better than he did against usf, as has milroe. We had Tobias and Rico and a bit of tyree as only wrs that game, literally 3 wrs and 2 can’t not physically get open … insane passes to Evans and a last 2 minute drive, no turnovers too
May not have had 100 total yards with TB…
See TB with alabamas offense at USF… he is bad
Shocked at the first to respond hereBreath of fresh air. They are actually saying things. 30% of the knowns have nothing to add beyond "haha where'd you coach dumb dumb".
I get your point but milroe didn’t play vs usf, for disciplinary reasons, he would have played much better due to hiss elite athleticism alonetheir whole offense was bad against usf. now rees is just running the qb as a staple and taking shots downfield. milroe only threw 23 passes last night against lsu. i'm not arguing tb is better than hartman btw. tb has certainly shown he can play better than he did against usf, as has milroe.
