This guy's so good there are more Steeler fans talking about him replacing Big Ben than there are ND fans talking about is 3 years in South Bend.

From the Payton Wilson thread... thought I was in this one when I replied. Moved Lucky's too.

I'm not being a homer by saying if Phil leads a nationally ranked Top 10 team to the PA state 6A championship... He should walk away with this award, have his 5th star returned and have all the national gurus publicly apologize for ever doubting him.

At this point, he's the #9 QB, per the composite. Tied for #10 by 247, which could have him at 10 or 12 depending on how you treat it. This is including both Pro-Style and DT's QB's. I have a hard time believing anyone could make a good argument for more than 2 or 3 of those guys ahead of him.

All things considered, stats-competition-team results there is no argument for who is the best HS QB. Phil wins it with ease. Trevor Lawrence might look more like a prototypical NFL QB at this moment but Phil has out performed him as a HS and prospective college QB. As far as Justin Fields, forget about it. Phil hands down.

Unless Emory Jones has had a better season, no other top QB has been better than Phil this year.

What level of football does he play at?

All 500 people in the stands seem excited.

6A. They are the Penn of Western Penn.

That game was the Indiana equivalent of the regional championship played at Heinz Field. I'm sure if Penn played Valpo at ND in the regional final, the stadium would look about the same.

Thanks for the info. Penn is not as special as when I played for them under Coach Geesman...but damn they travel well.

If Penn played Valpo at ND, the stadium would be much more populated.

Top level of the state's classifications. The top level of the WPIAL, which is one of the, if not the, best districts in PA. He is straight fire, lighting up every single team, every single week.

It was super cold, and rainy. No doubt that kept some people away, but WPIAL games always look empty as hell at Heinz Field.

What does it mean to be the "Penn of Western PA"? I'm not familiar with Indiana HS.

Loomis is from the South Bend area and played at Penn Twp HS which is just east of ND. They have been the dominant HS program in Northern Indiana for 20+ years. Phil's HS, Pine-Richland is the best HS in the Pittsburgh area so putting it into context for him to understand... Pine-Richland is the Penn of Western Penn.

Very tough competition in the 4A, 5A and 6A class of the WIPIAL Also, it was pretty packed between the 35 yard lines. I wasn't there, but grew up in Western PA and had a handful of friends go watch. Robert Foster (Bama WR) came out of a 3A school, and at the time I thought he was the best WR I've ever seen.

Foster could be great but he can't stay healthy and it has taken him three years to get his attitude right. I had high hopes for him when he signed but he just hasn't delivered.

Ya, he really hasn't done well for you guys. I really thought he was going to ball out for Bama. I remember watching Tyler Boyd at Clairton (Single A) and thought he would be a bust at Pitt because of the level of competition. LOL...I couldn't have been more wrong.

Seriously, what are the chances that Phil can start day one for us

People said the same thing about Wimbush when Kizer struggled. The backup QB is always the savior on paper. But for once, I hope this Phil stays committed and comes in to play.

The thing is, he could not possibly be worse than Wimbush. Personally, I've never been sold on Davis (I'm over super short QB's), so for me it should be Book vs Jurkovec

Just develop Book to be the starter next season. Then Phil can be the starter as a red shirt frosh

Book starter
Davis back up
Wimbush RB third string qb
Phil red shirt

FWIW I have family in the area with kids playing on really good teams that have faced him and been destroyed and they're all saying he's 100% the real deal.

Like fightingirish26 said he can't possibly be worse than Wimbush.

He needs to EE if he wants a proper crack at it. If not, Book vs Wimbush... BW wins out.

Let him start from day one if we are positive he has the most upside. I’d rather roll with true freshman mistakes for a year and go into year two with a full season under his belt.
