I saw Lenzy in for at least 1 play. Hopefully he can get a few more looks over the next couple of games and be ready to contribute vs Clemson. Btw, I still can't stand 0 on his jersey.

At least his jersey number matches his on field production

Yeah his injury has him playing catch up. His best service at this point is to dial up 5-8 shot shot plays that use his speed like last year.

I think the problem must be that he has lost his speed due to the injuries.

One of his better games this year. I really wish we'd get him the ball in space more often. He can be lethal on reverses/jet sweeps.

Similarly to the DB’s, Brown and Lewis (he played very well tonight). I think a lot of credit should go to the WR room and Del. Austin and Lenzy could’ve folded like the DB’s could’ve. But none of them did. They’ve battled back and earned this success.

He was effective last night but remember we just played a terrible terrible defense.

You’re correct about Virginia, but I’d say that Lenzy can do the same against better competition as well. His issues have been confidence, consistency, and health, not a lack of ability.

O'Malley interviewed him today(story forthcoming) asked him if he's coming back and he was non-committal. But he said if he does come back he will enroll in the MBA program. That's a good sign IMO, if academics are a factor its usually to our advantage.

He also interviewed Takacs, didn't get a chance to ask him but indicated that he would also be non-committal.

Seemed to imply that the guys who can play in the Fiesta Bowl are being told to not talk about next year.

I hope he comes back. I don’t know why Takacs would be asked to though. We’re pretty loaded at TE.

It's honestly dumb that the media even asks these questions. Yes, it is "their job" but putting kids on the spot before they may have all the information that they need to make a decision about their future is stupid.

Sounds like Lenzy handled all questions w/ maturity & tact. Loved that he acknowledged that Styles saw field as a true fresh b/c he deserved it and that he knew he didn’t pretty early on when he was a freshman.

Yeah the lack of targeting Takacs when he was in there showed a lack of confidence in him by the coaching staff. His blocking wasn't great either. Evans looks like an upgrade and Bauman might be as well. And then there's Rairdon. Prister said he has 11 inch hands which is really good.

They would gladly take Takacs back but my guess is he grad-transfers to a place w/ a less crowded depth chart. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him on an NFL roster in a few years.

Agree kid should grad transfer somewhere. He'd be starting at all but 20-30 schools I bet

For real? We need as many WRs coming back as possible.
I thought he showed big improvement over the season.

Lenzy had some great thoughts in his interview today. I’ve seen enough tidbits scattered. Will be a worthwhile read once the sites post it in full.

This isn't a new thought or nothing but we need Lenzy, Davis and Austin to come back or something.

I think out of all the receivers, Lenzy would benefit most from the expected improved o-line play and Buchner's arm next year. He was open or had a step a ton in the first six or so games and it just seemed like Coan didn't quite have the arm to hit him.

I think Lenzy and Austin would see huge increases in their stock. Austin could hang over 1k and put together 2 actual years of playing college ball. Lenzy would have time to get to top speed and run under some deep balls and maybe get some screens/ end-around type work. If Davis is healthy, it'd be great to have all 3 back but I'm not counting on it at this point.

no chance he comes back IMO

Why do you say that? FWIW, he would be my pick for offensive breakout next year. I've never been as high on him as some around here but I think his game is really starting to round out. Without BK at the controls I also expect ND to do more in the passing game in the second half.

I always sort of got the same vibe with him. Hope he stays though and kills it next year but I just don't see it happening. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Don’t forget ND has one of the best TE in the country playing ahead of him. I think it’s less about Takacs and more about Mayer.

After reading Hansen’s interview w/ Braden, I agree. He’s earned his ND degree by taking 18 hours this fall. That’s no small feat. He’s set himself up to leave for the NFL Draft (unlikely IMO) or a grad transfer. My bet is he grad transfers back west or to a school in the South.

Sounds like he hates South Bend but appreciates Notre Dame and the degree. It was a business decision so I can’t blame him. He’s ready to be out of South Bend, Indiana. That doesn’t reflect poorly on Freeman or his teammates. The one sliver of hope is he said if he returned he would be spending his final year at the Mendoza School of Business vs “studying football”.

I agree and think he comes back next year; he has to see the huge opportunity ahead with this depth chart. If he stays healthy, he'll get as many snaps as anybody else in this offense.

He needs to shore up his hands for sure, he has way too many drops and too often he catches the ball with his body, IMO, so there's plenty for him to work on to improve his stock before chasing his NFL dreams. Hopefully he decides to work on his craft here. He has such a high ceiling.
