Go watch the last few games and focus on #0. He runs free pretty often. There is also the 1 touchdown per game that Pyne misses him. He's not like a first round talent or anything like that, but he does not deserve the hate he's gotten this year.

I agree, he's also catching the ball much better than in the past. I can't think of any glaring drops he's had this season, especially the past few games. Styles has been struggling a bit; I hope to see Pyne continue to give Lenzy some chances and keep working with Jayden Thomas.

I know it's not going to happen but Pyne seriously needs to spend an hour or two every day after practice throwing to Lenzy, Styles, and Merriweather. Something is totally off with their chemistry. When they are open, the throw is shit. When the throw is on target, the catch is shit. They just need to bury the reps and force progress.

When I played football, if the RBs fumbled the coaches made us walk around school the next day holding a football to and from every class and the students were tasked with trying to knock it out. I feel like Styles needs to get random footballs thrown at him by the students (kidding). Audric certainly needs to walk around campus with a football though.

I'm sure they put in plenty of work before, during and after practice, it's just not the same as the game. When the lights are shining brightly on Saturday, there's more pressure, and the offense certainly is pressing to make things happen it seems. That's not an excuse, just need to execute when they get their opportunities, the whole offense collectively.

Agree with this. Coupled with having a first hand account of how much of a leader he is in that room, I'm in agreement this is more on our deficiencies at QB

I know we joke about it, but making a football player who fumbles a football carry a football to their Finance 202 class, or to the dining hall is the dumbest and most archaic practice. It has no application on gameday.

“Okay, Audric. Remember on Wednesday when that freshman bumped into you in the archive section of the library? Remember how you cradled that football (and stack of literature) and kept it from hitting the floor? Alright, now I want you to think about that and harness it when Bryan Bresee has you wrapped up on Saturday.”

Not sure what they can do to get Audric's ball secruity improved at this point; he was clearly instructed to keep two hands on the ball when approaching contact against UNLV after he only had one arm on the ball when that back-breaking fumble occurred against Stanford. Still didn't help.

All I know is ND fans everywhere will be holding our collective breath every time he touches it. He's such a beast, I love his abilities, but ball security is everything. It'll be interesting to see how many touches he gets against 'Cuse.

Not sure why this is in the Lenzy thread but... Estime tends to run a little high sometimes and the ball isn't high enough when he does. Not always, but sometimes. I'm sure they're working on him on this.

Putting his ass on the bench might help him focus. As Freeman pointed out in his presser its not like you can do a lot of live hitting this time of year. Unless you want to see how good our walk on RB's are.

I pointed out how Lenzy has negative reputation of dropping the football, which hasn't really been the case this year, and pointed out that my bigger concerns with this offense aren't Lenzy related, they're Styles (drops) and Estime (fumbles).

I agree with you that in the past Lenzy often had drops on short to intermediate throws, which he has cleaned up this year. Saying that, he still struggles coming down with jump balls/contested balls. To me it just seems like he just does not have very good ball tracking skills and instincts.

I'd agree, but given his size/stature, he isn't necessarily the best option for those kinds of passes. But it's been nice seeing him catch more balls with his hands and he's dynamic on those toss sweeps.

They tried getting Styles a few 50/50 balls this year and he doesn't seem too natural and coming down with those; not to keep picking on him because I think he has a very high ceiling; jsut needs to clean up a few mental mistakes of late.

Would love to see them give Jayden a few more 50/50 balls. He's a big dude in the slot; outside of Mayer, idk if we have that type of pass catcher this, unfortunately.

Unfortunately he was runner that needed coaching to be a WR. And he never got the coaching he needed.

Lenzy not playing was probably due to our decision to go with 2 TE's almost the entire game.

Actually went to 3 late using Sherwood to block along with Evans and mayer.

Let’s hope, the kid comes back. Would blame him for entering the portal. I bet a better team with no doubt a better QB would pick him up.
