He said he wants to play somewhere close to home so we have to be a front runner, South Bend and Michigan City are like 20 minutes away.

I mean, he's already pretty close to home lol Kalamazoo to Michigan City is about 90 minutes.

He's looking for a guaranteed sparting spot, or at least A LOT of playing time, via his own admission. He wants as many reps as possible to put tape together for the NFL.

Not sure if ND will make a promise like that, or if they can sway him towards the good guys with other means.

Braden was the star offensive player on our Pop Warner National Champs. A HS buddy of mine coached them with Braden's dad.

He's like an older version of Owen Waffle, a very athletic guy who grew late. Was a TE/DE early in his HS career and when he graduated he was a 6-3+/255 OL./project DL.

He's gonna end up at ND if they want him and Purdue if they don't.

Considering the rotation ND likes to use, even if he's a back-up he will play a lot. His size and ability make him more versatile. He could play in both three man and four man fronts.

Information at our disposal tells an interesting expectation IMO:

- Not even considering NFL draft grade it seems

- Instant offers from many P5 schools

NIL probably incentivizes guys that maaaybe get a late round look to make a move like this.

I have major concerns that Kahuna sticks around, as much as I'd like that.

So 1T would essentially be Fiske and Rubio, because I think Onye and Hinish are still probably going to be a year away, on top of Houstan as a true-freshman.

Cross needs to be a 3T next year. He would be MUCH more effective there, and he was already quite effective as a nose. You draw the conclusion.

It’s exactly 30 minutes from south bend motor speedway to courthouse in MC
Someone doesn't drive the speed limit and catches all 15 lights on the way there.

In MC? Yeah from the mcdonalds brinks towing corner to 4th or 5th whatever takes you up the backside of the courthouse by the library i do around 45-55 speeding up and slowing down to sync the lights. If your gonna get pulled over on the drive its Rolling Prairie, Hunter Ridge at fail road and some times by the bog near LaLumiere (sic but too lazy to fix). But once you hit mc they got better things to do as i jam by their fancy new station.

Dude is pretty quick if he’s legit 6’-5” and 300. Him and Mills on the interior. That would look to be a good to great combo.

Remind me to never get in a car with you.

I grew up in the far eastern part of the MC school district by La Lumiere school and it was still 28 miles
Did you go to LaLu? The soccer field there is named after my grandfather who was the headmaster there for some time.

I am all for this. The d-line was pretty disappointing this year. I blame some of that on Lacey leaving. They really could’ve used him.

I keep seeing this being talked about and not sure I fully understand it. We played a ton of 3 man fronts and had a guy end up with double digit sacks while other guys were also disruptive. Most teams that play a 3 man front are either running a 3-4 and relying on the backers to make plays, or they are running some sort of 3-3-5 / nickel and trying to match up and contain the passing game with the understanding that there might be some success running the ball when they can create numbers and being Ok with that. I feel like we were pretty textbook what you would expect on these situations and mostly contained the passing game all season against some of the most prolific passing offenses in college football. Our d-line at times looked worse than they were because of poor fits and the inability to get off blocks at the LB level. We did a good job collapsing and creating havoc in the pocket. USC was the only game all season where our defense did not play well enough that you would expect to win.

Might be a way to run the 3-3-5 with three 6'5 300lbers. Fiske, Mills and Rubio.
Given the numbers at o line I’d have a conversation with Wagner about giving d line a go as well.

Hard disagree.

Despite the favorable numbers, I don't really know who replaces Alt at LT. I'm not sure we have a ton of viable options for LT when he moves on, but Wagner is one of them if he puts on the needed weight.

He looks more like a Jerry Tillery as opposed to an Alt or Fischer to me.

Would rather him move to a position where he’s not trying to force things from a weight standpoint.

I mean, Tillery was 6'6 and 305 at ND. He was essentially the same size as Eichenberg was at ND.

Wagner is probably never going to be as huge as Alt, but very few legit OT can be that physically imposing. But he can definitely get up to 6'6 300-310 and still be an absolute stud at LT.

There’s getting to 300 pounds, but also being able to carry it and play effectively. I’m not too sure it’s possible. I have a hunch that Wagner is going to be a 285-290 guy. Which can still work fine in college football. He’s a great athlete so that will serve him well.

It will be curious to see what his updated weight will be come spring practice.

I wouldn’t move him to DL. He has natural feet, a better assest for OT. And like you said, ND doesn’t have many options on the roster long term that project as natural fits at OT.

Fiske paired with Rubio, Keanaina, Mills, Cross and Nana? I like the sound of this.

i really want Keanaina to return better than his previous 100% so he can load up the middle.

It'll be interesting to see what Kahuna does.

Considering Rubio made a move this year and should be even bigger this year, plus adding Fiske, would Kahuna be content being part of a 3-man rotation and probably 3rd in said rotation?

I want to hope so, but it wouldn't surprise me if he decided to move on. He'll 3 years of eligibility, but barring injury, he won't be able to burn a redshirt like Lacey, so if something happens, I imagine it'll happen in the offseason.
