Good to see him getting his due. Visiting soon per 247, hopefully this weekend with John Waggs, Ryan Hayes and JaM Franklin... they could all be on Commit Watch. I was hoping ND was really recruiting him. He's been tearing up the 7v7 circuit along with his Boom teammates. Named Top performer on D last weekend. Makes Top 5 performers against National comp and an offer list that would make a mama proud. Would be thrilled to have this kid in SB. Has had NW offer pinned for some time. Loy with the CB for the good guys.

He was awesome at WR in the second round of the playoffs against East St. Louis. No one else came as close to ESL as Glenbard North did in the playoffs. He's every bit as tall as six feet.

I'm all in on an early offer and take. Allows us to be really patient with other CB's, most notably, Griffith, who seems like he's going to take his time.

Adding Newsome would only help us with Griffith, if ND offered I wouldn't agree with it but I'll defer to them.

Watched Newsome's film. Decent prospect. It would not upset if he was offered and committed.

Best position for him in college is safety.

Dude's played as well as any CB in the country in 7v7 where the QB has no pressure and he's not good enough to play CB at ND? Julian Love at the end of his cycle was less thought of than Newsome is right now and Newsome has 10 months till NSD to improve his stock. How has Love turned out coming from the same area/training group?

What is this based on? I looked at his film and he looked like a fairly fluid athlete and the current camp circuit reports are glowing per Crusader.

I'd be very happy to add him. If we can add Griffith at the end that would be great but we can't count on that. And we didn't sign a single corner last year.

That can't happen again. There is no guarantee we keep all of our current commits so continuing to add to this group is objective numero uno.

It's ok for me to not think every player is worthy of an offer right? We want speed in this class, this isn't your guy. We want top notch CB's and are chasing some good ones, this isn't your guy. Greg is a terrific kid and I'd be happy to cheer for him at ND. He'd make us proud to be ND fans off the field I just personally don't think he's good enough on it to be offered by ND at this point. We need CB's so it is what it is but I don't think you offer and lock up plan B when so many plan A's are still floating around.

He's not Julian, not by a long shot. Greg is probably the 2nd best DB on his HS team, some say 3rd although I don't quite agree. He played well at times at DB, Julian was a transcendent player. Julian knew an ND offer was coming and basically shut it down, he was also committed to ND by this point. If Julian chased offers and wasn't the worst kept insta commit secret out there he would have had OSU, UM, UGA amongst others. No I'm not kidding. I'm much closer to these situations than you think.

At the end of the day if we offer we'll get Greg Newsome, it'll only help with Houston, that's positive. I don't think he's a guy you take now and would be disappointed from the standpoint of what we could be leaving on the table but I'll defer to the staffs plan because like I said we'd be getting a great person.

But we've been burned so often by this thought process from the staff... you keep the low-star hanging, thinking you'll hit the big fish. But then you don't hit the big fish, and the low-star has either lost interest, or blown up and committed to another good school.

I think you lock up plan B early, especially when he appears to be legit based on national camp settings, and then still chase plan A.

This is ND. There is always room.

Yea, we need 5-6 DB's in this class. Perfectly fine adding Newsome and, say, Justin Birdsong as utility DB's. Then focus on guys like Griffith and another top S target. The reality is, there has to be DB's in this class that are depth players. Elko gets this and has been hard at work developing relationships with a lot of DB's that aren't "elite" talent.

Oh I see, you're a douche.

No need for those types of comments. You responded to one of his posts with the exact same text. If you can't take it, then don't do it yourself. Keep it classy and civil, we'll all be fine.

^This...especially when Crusader brings a hell of a lot more to this board than you do.

You Julian was less thought of at the end of his cycle than Greg is now. That may be accurate for the services, but overall that is just not the case.

As mentioned above Love shut his recruitment down early. I also don't think he went to many camps once he shut it down. Most importantly Urban Myer wanted Love badly. but Love politely said thanks but no thanks and that ended Urban flirting with Love.

Ah so devaluing someone's opinions simply for being different is cool eh. I don't know who Crusader is, don't care. He can have his opinion and I won't mock him for it, he's entitled. I worked with both kids, coached Julian for 4 years and talk to both frequently. As a coach/trainer who has actually worked with both I think it's perfectly acceptable to post my opinion. No need to be an unwarranted internet hardo. Greg is a great kid, he'll help with other kids as well, I personally don't feel he should be offered at this juncture, it doesn't fit in with our desire to add speed and playmakers to the secondary, but I'd be happy to cheer on Greg in a ND uniform. I can be an ND fan and support or coaches without blindly liking everything that they do, it is acceptable to think for yourself still is it not?

For a person in your position, it's surprising it's so difficult for you to understand. Nobody is saying to not post your opinion, but when you start calling posters douches, that's where it needs to stop. If that is too difficult to understand, you won't last long here. You're the only one that resorted to name calling. Keep it classy and civil and we'll all be good.

As classy as the guy posting in two other threads mocking me for my opinion? I was warned about this board but I figured I'd give it a shot because I saw no point continuing my "membership" elsewhere. If I can't call someone a douche for posting passive aggressive messages, simply because I don't agree with his expert opinion, then I'll show myself out.

I think you have a point about the passive aggressiveness, but just don't call someone a douche.

Didn't you passive aggressively write LOL on Crusader's post? You should've taken the warning about this board. We're a bunch of no good scoundrels and you appear to be a perfectly pleasant human being minus the douche comment, doubt you'll survive this lot.

Disagreements happen and discussion is encouraged. It's virtually impossible to police every spat. However what is pretty simple to understand, for all, is do not insult other posters. You've both been passive aggressive in this situation and only one resorted to name calling. If you can't handle that on a message board, without insulting, then not sure what to tell you, other than it's not everyone else's fault, you can't control your emotions or actions. Message boards aren't for everyone. Hopefully you are able to contribute, in a positive manner, going forward.
