no mention of education when a kid commits to OSU despite proclaiming that academics were very important to him throughout the process..quelle surprize
Why people continue to bite on the whole education being important thing is beyond me. Year after year we see the same exact s***. This kid is no different than any other kid that came before him. He is not here to play school. Enjoy your 3 to 4 years before jumping to the NFL.

I agree with the angst, but to be fair...
(1) he didn't say much throughout the process, we were being spoon-fed by the ranking services;
(2) What some kids mean when they say they take academics seriously is that they want to know that the program actively makes sure kids are doing their school work and is not discouraging academics, not that they are going to get a Tier 1 education.
(3) You can take education seriously, without wanting to go to Harvard. In fact, some kids may do better off in a less competitive environment, just like some kids are better off playing football at Virginia than Alabama.
(4) some of the smarter kids aren't worried about graduation rates, because they don't see themselves as "at risk."
(5) a lot of these kids get lied to by charismatic, well-educated, polite professional salesmen about how good their school is, how much they value education, etc. For example, Ohio State puts out like 10,000 graduates per year into an economically robust state. You don't think they can point to hundreds of hand-picked of success stories, networking, etc.?
