Ummm...

Do you guys think no other tier 1 programs were after Tommy K, Q, Jaylon or Redfield?

For top 50 guys, is our hit rate any different than other top programs? Honestly don't know, bu tanymore it feels like we rarely have classes like osu or Clemson or uga is having with top 50 talent. ND used to be that way, but falls short today.

So what you're telling me is that Notre Dame has signed as many 5* recruits in the past six years as Stanford did last year?

And that since 2014, Notre Dame has signed the same number of 5* recruits as the University of Virginia?

Notre Dame can and does close on the best recruits in the country, but there's no denying that we lag behind basically every tier 1 program when it comes to recruiting truly elite talent, and that's a problem that needs to change.

We fall short because those people do not want a college life experience they want a minor league prep for pro football with no hindrance of academics-your talking apples/oranges here. As Kelly says we shop down a different isle. I admit Notre Dame is 2nd tier these days and I am now in the camp of its ok- what these football factories are I don't want. Get an education learn the disciplines of fretting over classes stretching your mental resources to educate so for the next 40 years of life you are prepared to contribute. What goes on at the other guys house is the other guys house shortcomings-it may look like they're winning but in the long term they are not. This guy seems like a perfect Alan Page/Zorich/Casper type guy- football tough and articulate- it will be interesting to see what he does.

TBH, this is by far the best class that BK has signed since he has been here; with or without NPF. This is a tough loss, but I am extremely excited about this class, especially on the defensive side of the ball. We will be fine.

I am specifically referencing guys that sign NSD. From what I recall, ND was firm with Smith and.Tommy for a long time. I dont remember Redfield.

13 was definitely better (ranking and avg player rating) and 12 is arguably better (small class but higher avg player rating). This year we'll be lucky if we stay in the top 10 overall, and it will be a challenge to stay with an average of 90.

This is only rating/ranking opinion, but that's all you have to go on at this point.

I definitely get all of that, but I really feel like this is the most complete class that BK has signed. If you look across the board, there are impact players plus depth at almost every position. So, from my perspective, I feel that this is the best BK class, but I see where you are coming from as well.

This will be the best class of your adult life.

ND literally got the best player available (for them) at like 9 spots.

QB
Big WR
Speed WR
Slot TE
DT
MLB
Rover
SS
Hybrid DB

Definitely good at QB, LB, DL, and S (assuming Grif moves). Pretty standard (ND terms) at WR, TE. Weak though at CB (assuming Grif moves), RB, and OL. If we get CBo and Brown, that will help, but not stellar as all three were positions of need (OL, RB, CB). I'd love to see Grif stick at CB.

I really wish we could get a top tier 5 star RB stud one of these days that would develop. Don't get me wrong, I loved Josh Adams, but he was somewhat of a product of a good OL vs inferior teams early in the season. He also got screwed with a QB who couldn't toss the ball late in the season. It will be interesting to see how he does at the next level.

Not pessimistic at all. Love this class, but realistic about a few positions of need.

This calls absolutely has potential

Potential, talent and I really believe... leadership. Great group of guys! My biggest regret (so far) is that Stepp is excluded. He appeared to be a great fit and for whatever reason didn't get in. Loved his dynamic and hate, hate, hate that he is going to USC.

Regardless, hope he does very well with the obvious exception of playing against The Irish.

Cheers!

I love how on the ESPN NSD stream while talking about NPF as the "biggest msytery", there was no mention of ND. They talk about OSU getting some recent buzz, UF, and Bama in it, but not ND. SMH lol

Why "SMH"? It seems to be the opinion of all the sites that ND isn't in it...

Because no one KNOWS that. And if all the sites are right, then wouldn't Florida and Bama be out of it too? Yet they're mentioned. That's why SMH...

Chalk another big one up for Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes.

The 247Sports Composite’s top-ranked offensive tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere will play his college football at Ohio State.

A five-star recruit out of Tampa (Fla.) Berkley Prep, the 6-foot-6, 272-pound Petit-Frere also considered Alabama, Florida, Michigan and Notre Dame, and took official visits to each school.

But it was the Buckeyes that got the last official visit, and after taking a day or two to sort it out, was where Petit-Frere felt the most comfortable.

“He’s very, very thorough in trying to find the right place for him,” Berkley Prep each Dominick Ciao said. Greg Schiano was the lead recruiter for OSU and has ties to Berkley Prep and the prowess of Meyer and the rest of the staff secured one of the biggest recruiting wins in the country in the final hours of the 2018 recruiting cycle.

Petit-Frere was seeking the perfect fit. He took his first official visit to Notre Dame back in October for the Irish’s win over USC. He was in Ann Arbor when Michigan played Ohio State and fast forward to the last three weekends he took officials to Tuscaloosa, Gainesville and then Columbus in that order.

“Football is very, very important to him and so is school and the community and I think he wants to be part of the whole college experience,” Ciao said.

Petit-Frere ranks as the nation’s No. 7 recruit regardless of position and becomes the jewel of an Ohio State haul that now has 12 recruits ranked inside the Top100 of the 247Sports Composite. The Buckeyes add the prospect with perhaps the highest-ceiling in this entire 2018 class in Petit-Frere who will easily add 25-pounds plus to his already muscular frame. Petit-Frere has the feet, frame and toughness to be a dominate player at the point of attack.

“He’s just one of the tremendous finishers,” Ciao said. “One of the great linemen that I’ve coached. Just great quickness, fierce competitor, relentless finisher, agile pass protectors. He has all the skills to become really a special one.”
