3-star WR Geordon Porter Focusing On a Handful

Etiwanda (Calif.) receiver Geordon Porter is focusing on a handful of schools...

Etiwanda (Calif.) receiver Geordon Porter has an offer list that is into double-digits.

But Porter said a half dozen schools are standing out to him as his senior season approaches.

"Arizona State, Notre Dame, Utah, Colorado, UCLA and Cal are standing out the most right now," said Porter.

And Porter said another Pac-12 school could be getting close, one which he has family ties to.

"I think USC could be close to offering," said Porter, who's father, George, ran track for the Trojans in the 1980's.

Porter named a top seven that included the six standing out along with Alabama, which has also offered, but said he doesn't have a favorite from among them.

During the summer, Porter visited both Colorado and UCLA.

"They both really well to UCLA and Colorado," said Porter. "They both have great coaches and facilities."

Porter said he knows three official visit destinations for certain.

"I'm visiting Notre Dame, Arizona State and Utah," said Porter. "And it's between those three schools who is recruiting me the hardest."

Porter will take another unofficial to UCLA and will be at their home opener against Texas A&M next month.

The three-star said he's talking consistently with a number of specific coaches at each school.

"Coach (Brian) Polian and Coach (Delvaughn) Alexander at Notre Dame, Coach (Rob) Likens, Coach (Billy) Napier and Coach (Todd) Graham at Arizona State, Coach (Sharieff) Shah at Utah, Coach (Jimmie) Dougherty at UCLA and Coach (Darrin) Chiaverini at Colorado are the coaches I talk to," said Porter.

Porter said he has a timeline in mind when he'll make his decision but isn't certain when he'll sign.

"I'll decide at mid-season most likely," said Porter. "But I'm undecided if I'll sign in December or February."

Porter and Etiwanda open their season against Fontana (Calif.) Summit on August 25.

Redlands East is the HS where Jaelan Phillips went to last year. Malik Lovette was another ND offer from a few years ago who went to Redlands East. Good Inland Empire program.

Redlands East won the game 59-55.

Wow. Between Porter and Keys they share a lot of speed. I don't know if we could go wrong with either one.

Tough question.

I really like/love Keys film. My eyes say he's fast but he tested very poorly at the Opening with a 4.75/40. He doesn't run track either. That's a huge red flag to me.

Porter I know is track fast and football fast but not as shifty or quick as Keys it appears.

They need real take the top of the D fast, not just a dynamic slot with this pick.

My gut says Porter for what they need but I trust Keys would be a contributor.

He has to be. How can he move "way up" Who's ahead of him? ASB & Cota. Keys maybe. Hopefully they aren't slow playing him because of those guys.

According to Sampson he has not been considered an immediate take. Said there was some division of opinion on him among the staff. Like safety they were content to let things play out a little longer. But if he keeps playing like he has that could very well change.

i feel ya but michael pittman's dad is now tweeting how bad the coaches have been and not playing his kid....these dads talk(pittman's dad former nfl player)...usc has a lot of turmoil right now not by record but just how they haven't played well consistently all season...i would pay attention to see if they demote tee or if he ends up leaving because he is getting obsolutely killed as a play caller
