Visiting with his best friend, 2017 QB Sean Clifford who is a self proclaimed Irish fan.

Bockhorst camped at ND the last two summers

Here is a Scout article talking about his 6 visits he has scheduled from April 7th to April 21st. (Ohio St., Michigan St., Notre Dame, Louisville, Tennessee, Pittsburgh)
Bockhorst Ready For Busy Spring

From looking at the Scout article as well as looking at Matt's twitter, he seems to talk about Tennessee more then what I anticipated. This will be his fourth visit to Tennessee.

Praying all these guys just get together and say we're going to come to Notre Dame. It's a longshot, but would be so epic.

Not that it matters too often but apparently his Dad played at UC.

Bockhorst is a little on the shorter side, much like Ruhland and maybe shorter. I think getting work with HH at Irish Invasion and the OL/DL Camp in June will go a long way in determining if he gets an offer.

He is coming to Irish invasion and staying for the OK/DL challenge as well. Plans on visiting Ohio state in June and Penn state in July.

If anybody in the SW Ohio area wants to check out a St X game this fall, I'd be down. Especially if they play a team with other ND prospects.

Scout: Has a call with Coach Hiestand tomorrow. I could see him committing shortly if offered based on the last few interviews.

Sure Coach Meyer, I understand what you're (...ring), uh hold on a moment. Hi Coach, wow that's great coach I appreciate the offer. Sure, can do. Sorry, had to take that. Coach D says hello.
Can't really complain about Meyer's recruiting tactics when you pull some shyte like this. Unless, of course, Dantonio truly had no idea he was at OSU, which I would find convenient...but unlikely.

**Updated profile**

Matt Bockhorst gets more media action than any guy without an ND offer in history. You have to have the feeling that he's gonna be Irish one way or the other.

Seems to have struck a friendship with fellow class of '17 OL / ND commit Dillon Gibbons and fellow Cincinnatian, '16 commit Tommy Kraemer.

Has been linked to the '17 QB recruiting war because Sean Clifford is his QB at St. X and he would decommit from PSU in a heartbeat if the the Irish struck out with Hunter Johnson and offered him. It's pretty clear that Clifford and Bockhorst have long dreamed about playing for ND.

There are some good ones in the class of '17 and the Irish look to be in good position at this point in the cycle. Add a double digit win season (maybe more), Ronnie Stanley going Top 10 and the Irish O line shining on national tv every week and there is no telling how good this class will be. That being said, I hope Matt gets his offer and his chance to be Irish.

Matt Bockhorst knows that fate will determine if he lands a scholarship offer from Notre Dame, but just because the three-star prospect can't control much, doesn't mean he isn't keeping a positive attitude when it comes to the Irish.

Bockhorst, who is ranked as the No. 8 guard in the country, said Monday that he's doing what he can to catch the eye of Notre Dame offensive line coach Harry Hiestand this season, even if that means taking second-team reps at center for Cincinnati St. Xavier in practice to prep for the next level.

"I'm not 6-6," Bockhorst said with a laugh. "That's not something that I can change. I'm 6-4, and I know that I'm going to be an inside guy, and I'm completely fine with that. But it's kind of a tough position to be in recruiting wise, because obviously the taller tackles are harder to find. The schools know that the 6-4 and 6-3 guys are always going to be there, so that's kind of what's slowing the recruiting down. It's a waiting game."

Bockhorst is right. Tackles are often more coveted then guards this early in the cycle, but his words also describe the situation at Notre Dame to a 'T'.

The Irish might hold early pledges from tackles Dillan Gibbons and Joshua Lugg in the class of 2017, but it remains to be seen how many interior linemen will be needed down the line. That's why Bockhorst, who grew up a Notre Dame fan, doesn't hold a scholarship offer from the program despite early bids from Penn State, Michigan State, Boston College, Maryland and Boston College.

"What I'm waiting on right now is something that is out of control, and as frustrating as it gets at times, there's nothing I can do about it," Bockhorst said. "Notre Dame said they need to know how guys develop and what guys are capable of playing tackle, and which guys aren't. So that's the position I'm in."

"I talk to [Coach Hiestand] a lot," he added. "I sent him my early junior film, and he loved it. I told him I have been busting my butt all season because that's obviously an offer I want, and one that I'm willing to go to some pretty far lengths to get it."

Even if that means waiting.

Bockhorst said that while he knows an offer from Notre Dame is in no way a guarantee, the Irish are a team that's still on his short list of schools.

"I'm actually setting up a visit to Clemson this weekend for their game against Georgia Tech," Bockhorst said when asked who stands out. "Obviously Penn State and Michigan State have offered scholarships, whereas Clemson and Notre Dame haven't, so it's kind of hard to compare all of them. I would give Penn State and Michigan State a leg up because they have offered a scholarship, but I just don't know what's going to happen."

One thing that is clear however, is that Bockhorst understands where he sits on the board at Notre Dame.

"I'm in a good position with Coach Hiestand and [Irish head coach] Brian Kelly. They both think a lot of me, which is great. They think I'm high character guy. I'm in a great place, it's just that they aren't able to move forward in the process right now. It's kind of just a waiting game. We have to see where it goes."

The junior will visit South Bend in two weeks to watch the Irish face USC.

"Maybe if Coach Hiestand lays his eyes on me again he'll decide that I might have a little bit more of a priority," Bockhorst said when asked about visit. "But I'm excited."

Bockhorst has played a majority of the snaps at left tackle for St. Xavier this season, but has also worked at center, because the Irish have mentioned it as a possible role for him in the past. He has 58 pancake blocks to his credit. - See more at: https://notredame.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1810747#sthash.NVQdOJYi.dpuf

Thanks Panda,

I'm rooting for this kid 100%. He wants to be in South Bend, that is clear. He's doing his part both in production and cross training. I hope he ends up as ND's starting center in '20 & '21.

How about that huh?

And it's not like he's playing in North Dakota. They've played the #3 and #9 teams from Ohio and the #4 team in Indiana. I've got my fingers crossed he gets a spot.

Damn, he could be working at the waffle house. Good for him. Really seems like the kind of kid that will pull his heart out of his chest for ND.
